Final table

In a poker tournament, online or off, the last table of play is known as the final table. Someone at this table will win the big prize, and this the table that all players want to make it to. During a poker tournament, there can be any number of active tables. As players are eliminated, the tables are consolidated, becoming fewer in number. At some point, there will only be between 6 and 10 players left. These players then go to the final table.

The actual number of players starting at a final table can vary, depending on the type of game (a Stud final table will consist of 8 players only) and the venue. The vast majority of prize money is awarded to those who make it to the final table.
