6 max BVB strategy versus anonymous.

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

Title says it really, I need some help with my ranges and strategy blind v blind and hero is BB facing a raise.

These are the hands I have (can't remember where I got them, probably some free download) and the ones with dots are bluffs.

Now, all this 'If they fold to 3bet' 'If they chk/f flops' or if they barrel this and bluff raise that' stuff kinda goes out the window a bit when playing Blaze because we have no stats, no tracking, no hud and people do tend to be a bit random in their raising/defending v 3bet and floating ranges. In my experience most just look at their hand and if it looks pretty they stay in the pot. This included most of the regs to although some are fairly sensible.

I don't get all bluffy postflop because there's a promotion running where you need to win 20 rakes hands postflop to shoot a cannon, so we get floated way too often. It seems to be working well, although obviously I don't have the math to verify that.

Thus, we aren't talking about regular nl holdem here, the whole world and their budgie turns up for this promo to play Blaze.
In case anyone is wondering why I bother to play under those conditions, take a peek at @Jon-PokerVIP playing Blaze nl10 6 max for a view to a kill in the softest games on the planet.

I'm asking because I'm a bit bored being a nit now!

Hey @Pwll

Here are my current BvB ranges for a 2.5bb open raise.

Being in position I much prefer to use the suited Kx Qx as bluff range as they play better. The speculative hands are often used OOP because they give you clearer turn barrels, but in position you can pot control if you make a top pair hand more effectively.

@Turlock thank you very much. I t would seem that, given the population opens SB to 3x most times and often larger, that I'm a little loose then.

I'll get to work on remedying it today.

Thanks again..

That range seems really loose, it must be vs a minraise and it seems to follow the guidance of 3betting strong for value + hands that are slightly too weak to call.

I'd probably tighten up a bit in general and definitely do quite significantly it if villains are 2.5x or 3x-ing preflop.

One thing I would do if I was playing in the softest game on the planet would be to cut a lot of those bluffs out. That will make your range stronger meaning the adjustment villains should make is fold more but since it's anonymous and if the games are soft I assume people are giving tons of action I think that's a better way to go.

Another thing to consider is how comfortably will you be able to play hands like 82s postflop? Having someone fold preflop is great but then hand selection doesn't matter. Postflop if you don't know what you should be doing with such hands on a variety of flop like Axx Kxx JT9fd J83 855 then it'll make it much more difficult to make those hands profitable. The low suited hands in your bluff range don't often flop monsters so if you make money with them postflop it's by bluffing so you should be willing to do that. If you say people are trying to win lots of pots postflop for a promotion then that's another reason to have just have the heavier value range I mentioned above.

Just saw this, my sincere apologies and thank you very much for the advice.

I agree that in the promotion period I should have leaned heavier on the value parts of my ranges but I adjusted my game too slowly and got murdered for it; so, I'm working on that currently.

Thanks people, always appreciated - eventually. Blush

Who is the fish? The guy who let SB steal with autoprofit or the guy who raises junk in the SB with a high possibility beeing +EV with steal (even if he doenst know it consciously).

@Turlock : vs 3x your frequencies are okay but when I open 32o with 2,5x in the SB it is +EV against your range.

Against NL10 Reg, you can 3bet a lot of crappy hands, most of them folding to much, you can call all "looks okay hands" and 3bet for value with 77+, suited broadways etc.

Against fish I want to play as much hands as possible and you should do that IP with good odds too. If fish raises 2,5x you only have to call 1,5bb, means you only have to win a slight bit more of this 1,5bb back to do better than folding. Just snap call all hands exept ultra crap like 72o, 92o etc. 62o is good, can make straights.

Thank you very much, you do make it seem all too easy! Cool

Great advice everybody, I'm on it. Thanks again.

@Komododragonjesus@eroticjesus These ranges are a part of what I got from w34z3l coaching me. He says they're pretty standard really, and were a big improvement on what I was defending from the blinds previously which were way too tight.

Interesting that one of you says too loose, and the other infers too tight vs 2.5x.Or have I misunderstood?

Unfortunately I lost my database with the Windown 10 update so I can't grab any stats.

@Turlock I think @Komododragonjesus reference to too loose was to @Pwll range in the op, since he references playing 82s which is not in your range. I believe @eroticjesus is definitely speaking to your range against a 2.5x.
Posted 8 years ago
Just don't tell my coach I'm defending too loose is all, he'd say 'wtf' and spill his bottle of San Migel...

...w34z4l, of course, would be laughing to hard to say anything.

Yes, against 2,5x too tight @Turlock

@Turlock
Your range is reasonable vs a 3x Open. Vs 2.5x as said EJ way too tight. U can defend all suited hands definitely +EV.

The only thing u need to do is not spew postflop.

I think your defend range looks good. Nothing to change imo. You can move on and focus on how we should play this spot postflop now.
