Thread For American Players yet again...

Posted 8 years ago

So I'm starting a thread for American players again. My last one got deleted I believe in attempts to get rid of a bug on the forum where I couldn't reply to people's posts, but that's now fixed it seems.

That said...Any and all American players please join this thread to let us know what state you're from, intro yourself and to share any tips and tricks you've found with the limited options we have. Tips may include: easiest ways you've found to fund your account, softest sites v.s. the most reg infested site you've found, sites with the quickest payouts v.s. sites with slow payouts, or any other miscellaneous tips or information (like what skin you play under)

My name is Roderick (you can call me Rod), I play under the screen name M0nolith under most sites now. I'm from Alabama and my specialitys have been live mtt sngs and live cash games. I've found the ACR to be the most reg heavy while Intertops the softest. I use a prepaid debit card to fund my account, though I may use Skrill looking forward. I've considered Bovada as it has the highest player volume but only being able to open 4 tables is exhaustingly limiting. Lastly, one good tip I've found is to find a few good players that you can win consistently with and always find them at the tables, it's rare to find fish and stations that are regulars, most just deposit there money, lose it all and leave.Attached Image

Awesome idea! I am from the UK however I do play a fair bit on ACR so I might be able to join in Smile

I will spam this link around some of our US facing Facebook pages to see if we can draw some new members in also!

Thanks a bunch man! ACR/Black Chip really seem to be the best bet for most American players for sure, never really heard a negative thing about there business and their player pool is only seems to be growing with being on of the few networks that offers American players rakeback. Not to mention the fact they accept Bitcoin as a deposit/withdraw method really shows how forward thinking they are.

If I do deposit/withdraw with BItcoin I'll let everyone know how that process works!

Cookie Monster: Yup, ACR is a nice site if we could actually play on it. Juicy stakes has 36% RB and open to US players and I think Intertops also has 36% RB. Haven't tried them yet, but I think they're both pretty soft.

Bovada is super soft but no RB. I only play cash games there. The regular tables are good because they're super fish infested and they throw stacks around all day. I just switched back to Zone and I'm starting to crush those games too. Typically the zone/fast fold games are more reg infested, but these games are still soft. I'm getting about 400 hands/hour on zone. Zone is addicting. I think Bovada runs SNG's pretty regularly, but you'd have to check it out yourself. I don't have any recommendations for other SNG sites, sorry.

Yeah these laws are simply about taxation and Adelson trying to prohibit competition into the market place. His "morality stance" and coalition website is sickening. I don't like how some states are arguing against state run online sites because they "don't generate as much revenue as expected". If you want to generate tons of state revenue, online poker alone isn't going to be the magic pill, try legalizing weed or hookers first.

@Cookie Monster (just tagging, quoting, and replying to you in this forum because it seems to be more on the theory and discussion side of things)

Hahaha Yeah you are right about that...and in the end I feel like there exists zero rationale that any person should ever tell another person what they choose to do with their money. If binary options are legal, which is basically just slang for gambling on the stock market on your computer, then there is no reason any free human being shouldn't be able to sit down on their computer on a friday night and fire up a 20 dollar multitable tournament...while he lights up a hookah loaded with Blueberry Kush and his hooker cheers him on in the background.

I've heard about Zone. Damn, I remember when speed poker was first introduced as Rush on full tilt. I could literally glue myself to my chair for several hours at a time and just multitable. Might be worth it to go to Bovada for strictly that reason.

You should really think about using a HUD though if you go to a different site, anyone who is playing with profit without a HUD theoretically should make even more profit with a HUD. The main thing is that it shouldn't be used as a crutch, your instincts and hand selection will still be the biggest factors. The biggest benefit I can see is in multitabling for HUDs; if you are playing 6 tables or more at a time it tremendously helps to narrow down what a opponent made that c-bet with, when all you have to do is start up your HUD when you play to see how often he cbets...esp. when you are trying to focus on 5 or more other calculations from the other tables. That said it's not really a necessity I feel like, just something for an edge. But if you are interested, almost all the HUDs have a 30 day trial, and I'm pretty sure HEM is discounted on PVIP, I could be wrong though.

I know you said you don't use HUDs, but do you happen to know what the Bovada Card Catcher HUD consists of stat wise? Just the basic VPIP, 3bet, AF, etc.? And what is the cost? Regardless you might have sold me on Bovada though, I haven't gotten decent SNG action since the days of Pokerstars/Fullttilt and Zone poker sounds pretty comparable to Rush and Zoom. If you really want a fun game, you need to try Jackpot Poker on ACR!!

@M0nolith Do you have any experience with Intertops??? I can't personally look at the site and how the games are as I am based in the UK. Would love to hear some feedback on them. The main reason I ask is because they are part of our Top 500 rake race so the potential returns there are massive.

I'm actually trying to get my account retagged for Intertops, so if that goes through I'm definitely putting a significant deposit on there. But from what I've gathered from the amount I have played and from table spying at each of limits to mark the regulars, fish etc. the competition is exquisitely soft as you will find at most sites that combine poker/sportsbook/casino. The cash games seem to be where anyone will make the bulk of their profits, which is perfect for rakeback. They have limits as low as 4nl but there is a big jump in the amount of players at 10nl, and if Omaha is your game they have at least decent traffic for Omaha and HiLo even in non-peak hours . Sadly you won't find too many, if any medium to high staked players, except for the ones at the heads up table. Tourneys are normally only occupied with the ones with guaranteed money, and sngs are pretty barren.

All that said I would be happy to provide a in-depth review in a later thread after a longer period playing there, assuming I can retag my account on their for their sweet rakeback deal. Regardless, in my opinion it's a great site to build your bankroll because of the soft competition but there is definitely a ceiling at the moment. But Intertops, like all reputable American based sites, are only growing because of good withdrawal reputation, rakeback, and great promotions.

Just looked at the rake race and yeah 36% rakeback would be some serious competition to the rake race, even at 50nl as long as you are decently multitabling, you are talking about significant money even if you are a slightly losing player.

@M0nolith I think the Card Catcher works with your existing HUD profiles. So if you have PT4 or HM2, you can use your own stats. I'm sure they explain everything on their site. Just search for bovada card catcher.

Yeah I wish more sites offered speed poker, it's the fastest way to improve because you see so many hands. Bovada's 4 regular tables at once works well for me, it's not too fast and it's not too slow even though you'll get ~130 hands/hour.

Yeah I need to get off my lazy ass and just google it. Sorry I've been slow with the replies...I just got the goddamn flu. And jeezus Tamiflu is really expensive, a 5 day supply is 185 without insurance!! But thank the baby jesus I found my prescription insurance card but still, that's ridiculous...wasn't planning on voting but I might have to vote for Bernie Sanders as a purely financial decision, tax funded healthcare and all.

To get back on topic for this thread though, I'm in the process of buying Bitcoin as a new deposit method, haven't seen too many people say anything about it but I'm insanely curious to see how this process is going to work. At a glance fees (withdrawing and depositing) seem to be nonexistent since it's a digital currency...a big plus in my opinion . Any tips I have about it I'll post to the thread. If on the off chance someone has experience with Bitcoin, please let me know.
