AK, cbet or not to cbet?

Posted 7 years ago

This is a general question about cbetting AK, particularly OOP and complete air on the flop.

I get a lot of calls from regs and this is often small/mid pockets which, on many flop textures have a lot of outs to improve and are ahead anyway, plus I get floated a lot if the board is low/paired low, unsurprisingly. I just check/fold co-ordinated flops as a default play.
I'm thinking I should make it 5x OOP as a deterrent but it's un likely to work with any greater frequency than it does at these limits.

Any insight appreciated, I miss a lot lately and being stuck playing guessing games is annoying me now!

@Pwll how did you solve this?

This was the first spot where I understood the power of the HUD. Fold to Cbet above 50% I Cbet. Do I face a passive player I double barrel -- this way you fold out something like 66 or 77. maybe even TT... and nearly all the floats. If he is still with me on the river I make a blocker bet and fold if i get raised. If I get raised in any spot i fold. You have nothing to fight for.
player marked as station or maniac:check / call on the turn, c/f on the river.

Of course there are some variations due to different board texture and i try to work some check/raises in as well, but over all this works quite well for me.

Hi @FG_SpaceLord I found a basic video on it (link below) so I can work it a bit more from that.

No HUD available on Party standard tables unfortunately.

Gl and thanks for the advice. Smile

You just need to cbet, you are still ahead most of the time, a lot of players will float, especially on rubbish flops and fold to the turn bet so just barrell
