Live game analysis question

Posted 8 years ago

With a TAG image at the table so far and the blinds 1-3 I'm in the SB preflop with KK, one limp from a LAG in the CO and I make it 9$ and the LAG calls. The flop comes 10-9-10. The lag checks and I bet 3/4 the pot, the LAG over bet check raises to 100$ I went all in and the LAG calls and turns over K-10 and wins the hand.

Question: I thought for several minutes before going all in because I truly just felt I was beat given what my opponents range might be adjusted for my tight image at the time. What other corrections could I have made with this hand? Was this possibly the right play? What would you have done differently?

Any input would be much appreciated this being my first post here ^_^

Hey!

Welcome to the forum

I think you played it fine! He could be shoving with JJ or QQ here as he might not have 4bet/got it in preflop against yourself, who has a tight image as you mentioned. There's also QJ that could be shoving as a semibluff

I wouldn't put my opponent on many Tx hands as I wouldn't expect him to call a 3bet vs. a tight player with JT/QT... We block KT (Unfortunately he showed up with this), AT possibly in his range but again, questionable... Most of his Tx hands would be dominated by your 3betting range, so I'd expect him to fold preflop

The hand I would be very scared of here is 99. But there is only 3 combos of that so I would call Smile

PS. There's a line check thread where you can post similar questions here. More people will see it there!

Hi and welcome.

I think pre flop the sizing is a big mistake. In live games 3X opens are often small and you can even just open raise to 4-5x happily. So with a limper who is laggy and i would assume a station make it 12-15 and get extra value from there.

I am going to assume you are both sat with $300 each (100bb) so what i would do is just flat flop and call it off on turn. Jamming makes his bluffs fold and he might just go ahead and muck a 9 he was overplaying.

So my general line would be to induce bluffs and let him hang himself basically.
