castigers222: killjoy1987: CAAAAAAAAAAAASTLEFORD CAAAAAAAAAASTLEFORD!
Decent start this season mate!
I quite like the Tigers, we used to be very similar in terms of performance, stadium, crowd etc and always get a good game and I do love going to the Jungle, good atmosphere and decent fans.
We are doing a Leeds this season.... started off ok tonight but just, I don't know what is up with us this year, nothing going our way and everything just going wrong! No prizes if you guess where I'm from :D
LOL I would take a guess at Warrington.....what I don't understand is how you can play so well in the club challenge but look so out of it in Sl.
Your team is a lot better than Leeds so thik it will come good at some point although even at this early part of the season you might make top 8 but will be too many points behind for the top four especially if you lose to hull tonight.
Its a good time to be a Cas fan I know having seen us when we were fighting for survival and with the way we play under powell its also exciting to watch, hopefully we will stay relatively injury free and win something this year.
If Salford can keep injury free I think they will be the surprise package this year and hopefully Leeds will get beat by Wigans second string to burst their bubble.
Cheers
Andy
Haha on the nose! But like you, I've been following Wire since I was 12 (1998), went through almost being liquidated, being bankrupt, possible merger with Widnes (:O), very nearly being relegated in 2002 (Danny Halliwell last minute 90metre interception try against Salford to save us - one of my best ever memories!) fighting for a new stadium (needed to save the club).
To getting in the play-offs for the first time in 2003 with the saviour Paul Cullen at the helm. To then becoming a very successful team under Tony Smith, winning our first trophy for 30+ years (winning the 2009 challenge cup semi final against Wigan another never-forget moment, especially having been watching them we had been beaten in the semi's 5 times which just hurts), the quarter final match away at Hull KR was also one of the most amazing games ever, extra time golden point... I was on TV about 5 times and in all the DVDs and highlights of the cup run
To me though, it's not a good as it used to be... I think I preferred being a "smaller" team, nothing was expected and the rare wins against the likes of Saints, Wigan, Bradford (!), were celebrated like we had won the cup! Obviously with success it brings a new load of fans, which is good for the club obviously, but this new "breed" of fan are the ones that expect us to be winning every game, booing when we lose, wanting trophies every season, I can't stand it.
Obviously I want Leeds to win tonight
can't stand that smug Shaun Wane!
But I have always had a soft spot for Castleford and I do like Darryl Powell, is good to see them doing well.
I think we'll struggle for the Top 8. But to be honest, some different away trips might be quite nice!
