Nice work on the UKIPT main event qualifying, I'm trying to achieve the same. I would definitely recommend sky poker for 6 max cash especially if your game is solid, a lot of weak players that you can profit from. What do you mean by 'one of the first in the lobby'?

narun: Hey guys, I'm here because PokerTube recommend me this site, my name is Diogo Paula and I'm from Portugal, I play poker size last summer, MTT's only, and I'm here to upgrade my game!

Welcome to the site mate, it seems PokerVIP is getting pretty international with players singing up from all over the world.

How is the poker scene going on in Portugal?

We are waiting for the legislation to decide wich way we have to go.

Just mean basically when you win the ticket it automatically registers you to the UKIPT Satellite qualifiers list. When I qualified there was only 3 players, just checked now and there’s over 180. About to download the Sky software and check it out. Smile

Hey Charles, great intro post. For sure you need to head on over to Sky Poker if you are a STT/MTT man. They prob have the softest and most value games going. The software may take a little getting to used to but after a few days you won't want to leave.

Hope to see more of you on the site. Do you have any goals for 2015?

Hello everyone my name is Andy and I live near Malaga Spain.
Play mostly FLH and Omaha online but struggle to get decent poker rooms with the new legislation and therefore smaller pool of players.
Mostly playing on Pokerstars.es.just now.
I play live at Torrequebrada casino in Benalmadena now and then with mixed success.
Sunday is normally online tournament day for me with the odd hour or so in the weekday evening on cash tables.

Otherwise time is quite limited as I work away from home and we have a young son.

Ive been playing for around 18 years and really love the game.

Hey Swampy, how's it going over there?

Are you from the UK by any chance?

I reckon you will be hard pressed to fine FLH games anywhere but stars. Ever thought about moving to cash or mixing things up?

Welcome to the site and I suspect you have more experience than most of our members with 18 years under your belt.

Hi guys, my name is Alex, I am 20 and I am a second year Business Management student from Manchester, I started playing poker casually over the summer but since September its safe to say i've become head over heals for poker! I have recently got a job as a poker dealer as well, and I am desperate to find good resources to progress in the game. I have recently had a lot of success playing 200NL live in casinos and feel I have become a profitable player, however after reading up about bankroll management I realise I don't have the required bankroll to maintain the swings at these stakes, but I have tried transitioning into the world of online, and failed twice, so I would greatly appreciate any advice from you guys in the future! Looking forwards to getting involved!

Hey Alex!

Welcome to the site.

What stakes do you play online? Please remember that 200nl is a lot easier live than it is online.

I would suggest joining a site that offers HEM or PT support so you can start tracking your hands and seeing where you go wrong. They are both software that helps poker players get better. 30 day free trial for both.

Hey Alex, welcome to the site!
As Harvie said, getting a tracking software is the first step, after that settling in a site with your bankroll and try to have an schedule or a goal to follow on a monthly basis or target oriented. I tend to do better when i'm under that kind of pressure as it is a sweet pleasure to accomplish something u set your mind to.
Also, acommodate the best hours to grind with your free time, This depends on the site you are playing but it you should know which are the juicy hours of your site and how long does it take, and which hours are completely reg infested or just 0 volume of players

Hope i made sense, i think not haha

And welcome again!

What's up my fellow poker players. My name is Ace I'm 29. I currently grinding MTTs in the micros/low stakes ($5-$20) iM from California. Decided to introduce myself because I'm typically a shy person initially and warm up later kinda guy but because of this I don't have any poker buddies to improve my game. Started grinding about two years ago, no friends to learn from, just hard work. Been stuck at the micros pretty much this whole time. I'm a decent player, I win more than I lose but I truly feel I'd benefit from having a community of players to bounce ideas off. Hoping for a great experience.

Duces,

Ace

Hey Ace, is that your real name? Kind of cool i must admit.

Welcome to the site! How is online poker in Cali? Can you find many sites to play at or not?

Having like minded people to talk to and review your hands will certainly put you in the right direction.

Hey whats up Harvie,

Nah not my birth name, just a nickname my boys gave me. (Way before poker I must admit) Thanks for the welcoming; online poker in Cali is primarily just BOVADA, not sure your familiarity with the site. I hear it time and time again, the best way to improve your game is to have a like minded people to talk to and review hand history. Talk out decision making etc... but for me been a bit to shy and maybe even embarrassed to show my hand history (my donktific moments lol) but I really would like to open myself up a bit more for the criticism in my game to truly improve and become the best version of myself as a poker player.

Thanks Harvie and Renee, I have recently downloaded PT and I am dabbling in it during the trial. I had started out playing $0.1/0.25 whilst multi-tabling with a $500 bank roll, but I lost quite a lot of buy-ins with set v set situations, and I started playing $0.5/0.1 for a bit and saw a lot better results, however I went on a bit of a downswing and got felted! My intention is to start next time with a $250 bankroll and play $0.1/0.25 with potentially the bought version of PT, can you guys suggest any decent guides on how to use the basic features for PT?

with a $250 roll i would suggest not starting at 25NL 10bi down swings happen start at 10nl imo

Hi,

I'm Russ from the UK Playing micro stakes No Limit Hold'em. Trying to see how far I can run up my bankroll. I play mostly on unibet and stars - 6 handed cash and sit and go's.

I played a bit of poker a few years back but slowly lost interest - poker night live went off air and I never really felt my game improved from reading books. But that spark returned to give it another go and with the great content now found online my game, limited as it is, has improved.

I caught a few of the sites YouTube videos and felt it would be a good place to get some feedback and develop my game.
Look forward to the comments and hope to be able to add my 2 cents worth as I get better at the game.

All the best,

Russ

@ Ace, well there's no better place to learn than here. Just upload you hands to the poker strat section when you have any and we will be happy to take a look.

@AK, I would start at 10nl or 5nl with a roll of that size. As for PT help guides, I would check their site or YouTube mate.

@ Russ, welcome to the mad house. What stakes are you playing at currently and what do you do outside of Poker?

Thanks Harvie,

Currently playing the lowest stakes trying to start from the bottom and work up so mostly 2nl 6 handed cash on pokerstars and also some of their 25c - $1 (45 player) SnG's. The other day my limited bankroll took a plunge when I tried some 2nl zoom and it didn't go well but on the plus side after feeling useless and deflated it lead me to this forum. I also play on unibet too.

Outside of poker its getting out with the dogs ( I have 2 Staffies ) I live in a town that's both close to rural areas and the sea so great for walking. Enjoy gaming, some sports (Darts and NFL mostly) and plan to get some exercise going this year to balance the poker and other screen time that I fall into over the winter months.

killjoy1987: @russ whereabouts in the UK are you from? There are a few based in the Northwest here... do you ever play live?

Hiya,
I live in East Anglia- A coastal town called Felixstowe.

Never really played Live. A few years back I played in a little pub league which was fun. I saw recently my local conservative club runs tournaments firstly I'd need to sort out my tourney play and also have a bank roll that could buy in as they are currently out of my comfort zone. still one day hopefully.

I never really thought I would get the Poker bug back but I'm hooked again and have made more progress in the last 3-4 weeks than I had in the whole time I was interested before purely down to the advance in internet resources. I am the low stake coaching vids here are really great. Tried a few things out today which worked a charm and made so much sense.

How about you? are you close to some good venues for cash or tourneys?
