AK-Flush94: Thanks Harvie and Renee, I have recently downloaded PT and I am dabbling in it during the trial. I had started out playing $0.1/0.25 whilst multi-tabling with a $500 bank roll, but I lost quite a lot of buy-ins with set v set situations, and I started playing $0.5/0.1 for a bit and saw a lot better results, however I went on a bit of a downswing and got felted! My intention is to start next time with a $250 bankroll and play $0.1/0.25 with potentially the bought version of PT, can you guys suggest any decent guides on how to use the basic features for PT?

Depending on what you want to do with poker, 250$ may be not enough. If you want to grind and learn about the game, it{s swings, variance, complicated spots and situations i would suggest you to start an nl5 with 50 buy ins, or nl10 with 25 buy ins, but you could lose it all in nl10 as well.
If you want to play higher, players are usually going to be better and variance is just as brutal in higher stakes as in lower stakes, so just play within your comfort zone and you will be ok.

Russ:
killjoy1987: @russ whereabouts in the UK are you from? There are a few based in the Northwest here... do you ever play live?

Hiya,
I live in East Anglia- A coastal town called Felixstowe.

Never really played Live. A few years back I played in a little pub league which was fun. I saw recently my local conservative club runs tournaments firstly I'd need to sort out my tourney play and also have a bank roll that could buy in as they are currently out of my comfort zone. still one day hopefully.

I never really thought I would get the Poker bug back but I'm hooked again and have made more progress in the last 3-4 weeks than I had in the whole time I was interested before purely down to the advance in internet resources. I am the low stake coaching vids here are really great. Tried a few things out today which worked a charm and made so much sense.

How about you? are you close to some good venues for cash or tourneys?

Ah, good to see you have the bug ! Great idea getting into the learning and just burning through a bankroll!

I play pub poker weekly. started late last year and finished 2nd from 35 players in my first season so qualified for the regionals where I final tabled out of 140 players and also cashed so pretty happy with that. New season starts next week so gonna really play it and aim for first to get the trophy! Never won a trophy before !

Play regularly at Manchester casinos, and also travel to play in some events. Have travelled to Cardiff, Walsall, London and Coventry to play in £100 events but usual live buy-ins range from £10 - £30. I don't drink or smoke or anything and treat a night at the casino as my social vice, the way I see it as if I went on a night out I'd spend £50+ and if I smoked probably £40+ a week so can afford these buy-ins but is a win-win as often win money plus always improving my game!

@Killjoy1987 thats awesome, good luck for next season!! Must be great to have a near by casino especially as a winning player & always good to come home better off than when you left the house.

I'm currently in a little freeroll - need to get more practice at MTTs - my mid game is quite (well very) poor at the moment.

Are you playing much this weekend?

@Russ
I live between Liverpool and Manchester, so a good choice all within 30odd minute drive.

Just keep playing and keep learning, play within your means and most of all... ENJOY!

I'm planning to grind the cash tomorrow as a final push for the January rakerace leaderboard (stopped for tonight due to a tilting hand which I've put in the strategy section... was 2 Buy ins up over 3 tables, that hand happened and ended up going into a losing session so cut my losses due to the tilt and will get back on it tomorrow)

Planning a MTT grind for sunday evening, $70 buyins total over I think 11 tournaments, getting staked for half the buy ins so planning on getting some results!

Since I've not formally introduced myself here - My name's Stew - I work at PokerVIP and PokerTube, as well as other 180Vita websites =) Been here since 2010, came through Black Friday and delighted to finally watch this website grow from a rakeback oriented site to a huge community...Over 40k posts and 3k threads and counting....Thanks to all the posters that continually hang out here, I think it's fair to say that we've gone against the trend and managed to build a very cool community, which is more than can be said for your typical troll-fest forum.... Hey,

I signed up last year but didnt really recognize this site having such a cool community. I am 25 yrs old and live in germany right beneath the boarders to France and Luxembourg. Since i started playing on some smaller Networks im becoming an more and more active member, right now im so super active that im about to submit my first post here.
The main point to become more active is that PokerVIP got an insane support and deals for small nonmainstream networks which are not available on many other Communities.
The second reason is that i want to improve my skills as well in english as pokerwise.
By now im playing NL25/NL50 and tournaments up to $12 BI.

I hope my written english is understandable, if not dont hesitate to tell me what im doing wrong Smile

Hi poker peeps. Just signed up and wanted to say 'Hi'. I play a lot on sky poker and watched a few of John's videos where I feature quite a lot. He did call me a fish in one video but complimented me in another. I play on sky as 'donttelmum' and I'm known for my mega grinds.

Look forward to taking part in different areas of the site and happy to answer any questions.

Hey Sinisa, how is the poker community in Serbia? Do you ever dabble with HU cash games or do you just stick to the turbos?

Welcome to the site.

Over the last few months this site has really been picking up speed. I can see why with all the content at PokerVIP, not spotted a troll anywhere yet either. What sites do you play at Pantok?
