Yeah you need a lot of discipline when playing cash games. But you need a lot of patients when playing MTT, that's something I lack! I also hate the variance factor in MTT which I find higher. If your BR is big enough then you shouldn't mind losing a buy in or 2 at the cash tables.

I think when you make a journey you don't want to post shit graphs for all to see so you have to play your A game!

@jon-pokervip

Couple of videos on YouTube. I'm pushing it this year as a mate has just got some nice filming gear for his business but here is a vid from a year or so ago... Jazzed up a lot of sleights and flourishes since then so I don't actually like this performance but it gives you an idea

AldoW83: [quote=BarraBod][quote=AldoW83]

I am staying off the cash tables and focusing on MTT and 45 man SnG's and the like. Once I have improved my game I'll go back to the cash tables, but I found it too easy to lose discipline, thinking to myself, "it's OK I can just reload if I lose this"

When I play MTT I focus a lot more on making correct decisions and worrying less about the results,at cash tables I tended to reload and lose an extra buy in or two. Struggle to walk away when I am on tilt. Risking a fixed buy in is where I need to be for now until I am more confident and can deal with tilt appropriately.

I agree with this, cash games require much more patience and discipline than tournaments I think. I did the same thing to get away from cash games for a while as I was playing full ring which needs way more patience than 6max, but is easier to win at. I even went to spin and goes, twisters, 6man hypers and turbos, but then after a while I feel like slowing down and playing cash again, lol. I don,t think too many people would recommend this, but I will be doing it, playing what I feel mentally ready for.

AldoW83: Also, I think a journey thread would help me a lot. If I have to report on my results, it will encourage me to play my best and think about the spots I find myself in.

I really agree with this, it will help you a lot.

Yeah, I always practised good BR management. But I hit a down-swing, where I lost about 10 buy-ins over a space of time, when I looked back at some of my hand reviews, I was making fishy mistakes. So I think my plan is to play small field MTT's and S n Go's until I get some sort of discipline and confidence back. Then I will definitely be back to cash, as my ambition is to grind cash games. If I can get my game to a level where I can play 200NL, or something like that.

Hello all, Im james, 27, from Melbourne Australia. I play on 888 and Pokerstars Was introduced to poker in 2009 when poker was extremely big compare to now. Spent too much time playing rather than learning and end up busting a few bankrolls. Even though i really love playing I thought poker wasn't for me. End up getting a 9-5 job and never cross path with poker again till recently. A friend got a poker table as a birthday present so thanks how poker came back to my life. Maybe because I'm older but i see the game differently. I focus more on learning about then game as opposed to playing more or playing at stakes that im not ready for. I'm sure i will learn more from this site and look to be more involved in the forum.

Welcome to the forum, James Handshake

What stakes are you playing right now?
Have you thought of starting from the bottom with a small bankroll and trying to build it up?
The leak finder Videos are a brilliant way to learn, if you've not looked at them yet. Just find your specific stakes and watch those.

Do you play cash or tournaments?
If your grinding a lot of hands then you should consider signing up to a poker room through pokervip for some rake Back! It's a nice bonus to your bank roll every week/month

Hi there.
Quick intro from me:
52 years old Dane living in Italy. Playing only recreational, but joined your site - it doesn't hurt to get better, even if you are not a pro, ehh. Smile
Mostly doing Stars as we have a very strict internet- and tax legislation here in Italy, which blocks a lot of sites.
See y'all at the tables...

50BB! That's shit, that suits the fish better because there is less skill involved. Best get reading up on half stack strategy!

A Dane in Italy, that sounds like an odd but interesting story, how did you end up there?

Are you allowed only to play against other Italians, if so how soft/tough are the games?

I went back to 888 for the first time in ages the other day and thought I was missing something. I wondered why 50bb was the max I could buy in for...

Quick Intro from myself
* Benjamin (Ben)
* 27 Years old from the UK.
* Currently living in Co.Durham but I'm originally from Kent.
* Professional Poker player since 2011 when I decided being told what to do wasn't for me.
* No Limit Cash online.I also play live 4-5 times a week travelling local casinos and sometimes head further afield for decent games....as this is where it all started for me,I just love live poker and would take it over online any-day but unfortunately to make a decent living the bulk of playing now has to be done online,
* Currently play on PokerStars (Just transferred my BR back to them) up to NL200 at a push. The majority though is at NL50 and NL100.I very rarely play Zoom,I much prefer normal tables.
* Up untill recently I played 90% on Paddy-Power although with the new Rake changes I have lost out considerably so have cut down on there whilst I decide what to do next.

I overheard people talking about a site called Poker-vip in the local casino at the cash tables a few weeks ago I didn't bother to ask them about it at the time as I'd cleaned them out Smile and wasn't their favourite person at the time but went home and had a good look.I've been having a good look for around a week since but have now taken the plunge and regged.

So that's a brief outline of me and what I do,If anyone has any questions that i may have missed....fire away.

Hopefully chat with you all soon.

Hello, My name is Robert, but you can call me Korol' Lev (it's Russian for Lion King).:D I am not Russian though, Korol' Lev23 is my username on PokerStars. No, I'm 100% pure breed American right out of the heartland. I could be wrong, but I think I might be the only Yank on this site. LOL If so, I will wear it as a badge of honor and am proud to be here with my poker loving cousin's from across the pond.:) I am a Leo, hence the name (Lion King). I choose a Russian translation due to the international flavor of PokerStars and because I thought it sounded cool. LOL I currently only play live for real money due to the fact that online gambling is still illegal in the state that I live in (Missouri). I do however play on their play money side quite often. Especially when I want to get my donk on with all the Frackerfish and BitchJenny's that play there, LOL!!!
Oh, and feel free to use those two terms to on the lesser of your opponents at the site's you all frequent (from me to you;)). Unless it cause's you to run afoul to "site policy" that is. If your creative in the way you type them in your site's chatter box, i.e, Bit'chJenny, you should be golden.B). I currently play on cash game tables at one of the local casino's in my area at $1/$2 stakes, and small MTT's ranging from 40 to 100 players at $65 to $150 buy in's regularly, and so far have managed to supplement my income from my real job quite nicely. I'm on pace to double what I earn at my job from my winnings at the tables. Which isn't saying much considering a salary of $25K a year as a liqour store manager. I have no illusions of becoming one of the greatest poker players ever, but I do hope to one day to become a WSOP Main Event Champion. A dream I think that most of you (if not all of you share). I'm looking forward to impart some of my poker wisdom to you all and learning from all of you as well, for as you may know, a Grandmaster never raise's above the level of disciple if he's worth his salt. Wink

Hi guys i am Buddy from Australia. I play full ring micro 2nl & 5nl on Poker Stars. I have never played live but have mindlessly pressed buttons online for many years. I have decided to take poker seriously, over the last 2 months i build up $220 usd playing the stakes i mentioned. A few days a go i had a beer & lost my bankroll (stopped at $10usd) so am back grinding 2nl & have doubled to $20. Anyway i am hoping to start a journey thread once i work out how to post my graphs. Looking forward to interacting with other members on this site Happy

Yo everyone, Im Justin a live grinder who has been in a poker rut of late and hope to jump kick somethings in April. I grinded with Poker VIP last year when I lived in Thailand for a short time and loved the site and promos. Have a lot on my plate for a poker related business, but hope to put more time in my game and get ready for my first WSOP this summer.
