Welcome to the site Smile

What poker site are you playing on? Have you watched any of the player reviews for 4NL in the video section? They will really help your game. Plenty articles here and quizzes to get you going. live cash is usually easier than online so you might want to try it sooner rather than later Cool

GL at the tables

Yeah, I started watching them. As well I'm reading Math that Matters ATM and I can see how it changes my game on daily basis. I'm playing at StanJames and I'm pretty content with the games.

Also Jon, are there any guides to live play that you know of?

Is that book by Owen Gains? If so, its a really good book. I read it years ago and recently came back to it. The charts and shortcuts he has are great....thats if its the same book.

SJ is a good choice, MicroGaming network has plenty fish plus you get rake back. SJ has loads of rake races! Get involved because they are free Smile

Hey mate,

There is cash in both MTTs and cash games, it really depends on what you perfer and which type of game you like more.

What have you been playing for the past 4 years?

Hey All,

I am joining you all on a rakeback deal with William Hill. I have been playing on and off for about a year (I have a real job + family so occasionally limited time to grind). However, now looking to really work on my poker an hoping to start moving up when possible. So far to date I have just been playing the smallest stakes whilst learning the craft. I am really enjoying the poker and the content on the site.

All the best, and happy fishing to all of you.

Hey bud, welcome to the site. Are you teaching the wife and kids how to play yet? lol.

What are you dabbling with, cash games or MTTs?

No chance of teaching the little one or the wife until I have at least managed to accumulate enough skills so I don't take any bad beats off the good lady! I play cash games, and the odd freeroll.

hi all my name is Clinton
I play on pokerstars as comboclint io have been playing for
4 years now but never get to any final table in my mtts
I play the bigs mostly 22 dollar 11 dollar
I keep making silly mistakes and dusting out all the time after cashing for two times my buying
I think I have played for 4 years and my leaks that I have in my game have kept me for doing well
its hard to change my ways and I want to ask about a training tool I see on the internet
its called advanced poker training
if anyone knows any better training thing let me know
as I need to stop these leaks
plus I cant afford a coach yet but wish I could
so this programme seems the best thing for me
if anyone has better thing let me know
as I am trying to put the work in now days and time in poker
as before I didn't do any work or learning at all before
thank all Clinton

Hey again!

Do you just play for fun or would you call yourself a grinder? When it comes to MTTs knowing just the basics can get you pretty far. An easy way to learn the game is with our unique poker school. You can check out the MTT courses Here which includes videos, articles and poker exams....all completely free.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Welcome along guys!

Hi all. I'm Andrew...a couple of years older than most people on here (I'm over 40 which must seem ancient to most of you guys!). I've been playing on and off for about 15 years...used to be almost all SnG's which I played up to $5 pretty profitably. However I found it a bit robotic and tedious after a while. I had a break of a few years and started playing cash since the start of the year.
Currently playing 4 tables of NLH5 on iPoker and I'm getting smashed to smithereens. I'm down 20 buy ins just in the last 2 days... I thought I'd try and "play through" the downswing but it just seems to get worse ! I'm really not sure what to do, as I love this game but this isn't fun.

Here's a normal hand for me at the moment ( I have literally tonnes of examples like this all from the last 2 weeks)

Anyway, don't want my first post to be a total whinge.
I particularly love your videos Jon. I've spent time on 2+2 in the past but it seems to have gotten even worse in terms of cliqueyness...this site just seems so much more positive and friendly. Keep up the good work !

PS I might do a Poker Journey thing at some point but my head is not in the right spot.

Hey buddy thanks for the kind comments! Tons more videos to come - any specific ones you would like to see?

Yeh we have a ton of members joining here due to leaving 2+2 and they all say the exact same thing - we've got your back here bro!

With that hand maybe bet, check, bet or bet, bet,. check. I can't see any worse than KK calling you on the river so it may be a bit thin!

Anyways i will be ready to see your journey Smile

Guy is a total fish Jon..against a reg of course I check/fold river, but he's calling me all day long with any piece of the board and any pair in his hand. I think it only looks thin cos you saw the result.

As far as video as go I need more on the mental side when things aren't going your way - on a brutal downswing at the moment. Luckily I have a great dayjob and am totally rolled for these stakes,so losing a few quid doesn't hurt at all, but from a personal perspective I feel I should be crushing this level and my graph says the opposite !

Hey Andrew,

Welcome to the site mate, where do you play mate? Got any goals for July?

Yup, to turn my graph into a V ! Mmmm... I'm going to play some MTTs as well, maybe some PLO also, just to change things up.

I play on iPoker.

Jon here

I live in Costa Rica and help wife manage here parents small hotel. Originally from America though.

I been playing for about 5 months now. I play 2NL on PokerStars mostly and would say that I am winning at that stakes for the moment. Nothing to brag about but up for now. I have taken a couple shots at 5NL, which have been losing propositions. I have a guy that helps me from time to time. He has been a pro for about 6 year but it is pretty sporadic. Most of what i have learned is from playing and vids and websites, etc.

I would say that I pretty much still suck, but then again, I have only been playing for 5 months and have less than 100K hands, so I am kind of supposed to suck right now. Thats how you learn.

I have played a couple tourneys. Just got in the money on the Zoom Accumulator Free roll on stars. I am fascinated a bit by the MTTs and STTs. The variance kind of scares me and don't usually have enough time in blocks like that to give them a go

Skype is hfginc if anyone wants a chat

Hey Jon, i've been thinking of moving out of america, I'm a surfer from southern california hoping to kinda run my 95.10 buy in into high stakes money, i'm at 2.5k now but getting out of the country is my main goal so i can play on other sites. How is costa rica for an american? I've been down there twice on short trips for surf, but living there, is it safe? Nice to meet you also.-Nolan
