whiteheat: Hey, this is the next step in improving my game. Started playing about 5 years ago. I read a few books lightly and jumped in head first. I figured I could learn from just playing. Went good early on ... thanks variance. After watching my trend steadily go south and ultimately bringing me to my knees I decided to start back at square one. So for the last month or so I have been putting in about 20 hours a week studying the game. Already, i have seen some positive results. So, i am right on schedule. I knew right from the beginning that i would literally beat the shit out of myself mentally before i started studying seriously. Its just the way i operate. LOL.Glad to be here. Tom

Hi Tom

That is some serious studying you are doing! How many hours of play do you put in per week?

As for studying you have come to the right place. We have some of the best poker players in the world writing articles and producing video content for our members and it is all totally FREE.

You can see our unique Poker School or if you want to go straight to our videos then click Here.

Hi all, I'm Mal and I'm getting on a bit now so sshhh!
Play mostly on Sky, nl4 6 max with no HUD and apparently no fold button option it seems.
Hoping to move up to nl25 soon then maybe HU, but I may be a bit old for the stress of that, lol. Your coaches make it look too easy!

Live in Wales UK with She Who Must BE Obeyed and a fat spoiled dog. Trying to make a proper go of poker and seen a couple of vids on here already which I have to say were fun and informative.

Later all.

Hey Lattanzio, welcome to the site buddy. How is the poker scene in Brazil? Is it quite big or growing as I know Pokerstars signed Neymar not so long ago.

@Pwll, wisdom comes with age pal! How long you been playing poker for buddy and how did you come across the site?
Posted 9 years ago
Hi Harvie, the only things that comes with age are aches and pains! Giggle

Been playing for about 6years or so at the micros and trying to get out of there now I have the time to allot to it. I've won an embarrassing amount mainly at nl4/nl5 over that time at a nice winrate. Speechless

I found this site searching poker training.

Thanks for the reply Smile

Here is growing, its not been much time since live poker games became legal here, its all a bit new. we dont have much new faces that are making it yet. We have the known pros like Akkari or Mojave, and slowly pple are realizing that is prftable to play.
The live scene is bigger than the online since dollars are so expensive here now. And people play mostly as a way of passing the time.

so Mostly When you see a Brazilian playing online hardly they will know what they are doing.

@Pwll, my ole man plays the same limits as well just for fun. Just watch a few videos on this site mate and you'll be at 200nl in no time (flex).

@Lattanzio, hehe that's good to know, I'll look for Brazilian players at the tables next time. It's always good to see new countries opening up to poker, hopefully we will see it grow. Are there any Brazilian based poker casinos yet?
Posted 9 years ago*
Thanks Harvie, we shall see, but I do want to move along in the game. I must be the angriest micro iso-raiser in the uk by now! Laugh
Actually I just watched Jon showing just how it should be done on Sky. Cruel skill. I tried the same for about 400 hands and was absolutely shattered coming off. I also couldn't hit a barn and was still ahead 2BI. Weird, thank you Jon! Bowing

Looking at signing up to a room now but a bit clueless yet.

We dont have casinos per say, but we have poker rooms and associations, any form of gambling here is illegal, for poker bacame legal they had to do a study and proove that was not a lucky game and has skill involved, so here poker was sactioned as a mental game, such as chess, and than it was allowed here. But we cant even have bingos here. lol.
And on this poker houses tournaments are what allways atracts more people. Which is good because when cash tables are open people get a litle lost. Also mostly of the cash game tables are dealers choice between NLH or Omaha, Or they are 2 orbits of NLH for one of Omaha.

Hi y'all, i'm george 49 yo living in uk. I play micro SnG 6max, 10nl,16nl,25nl 6max csh, also dabbling in hi/lo omaha csh and micro mtt all game types. Been playing recreationally since early 2000. Trying to take game more seriously, but lacking the work ethic to excel (have the art of laziness cracked due to a lifelong grass habit). Now that i've gave up my vice, i'm looking to improve but tbh i feel there is an information overload on poker, which is great, but all the info leaves me feeling bamboozled. I'm without a structured learning schedule, where do i start. Advice?!
Thx

Welcome George Smile

Firstly, you are probably going to have a lot more patience than some young guns, so you're off to a good start already.

There definitely is an information overload - I think the first thing is to work out what you want to specialize in - I would recommend leaving hi/lo Omaha alone, just because not too many people play it and it's probably slightly more difficult to master than the other variants you mention.

Once you have worked out what you want to play - Watch the best play it or at least proven winners, read articles on it and just absorb everything you can.

I would probably honestly say that MTTs might be more rewarding than cash for you - but that's just a hunch Wink

Good thing about weed is that it's easy (or easier than some others) to put down to be honest - Right? Smile

I had a feeling poker was really picking up in Brazil - Neymar, Ronaldo and another actual poker pro was signed to Stars just a few days ago.

Big population, relatively wealthy country - Mini poker boom samba style? Dancing

Welcome back!

Yeh MTTs can take up a ton of time however SnG's can be ok if you pick the correct ones. For instance a turbo will generally run for a certain length of time or a 6 handed SnG for example we know won't last over an hour.

Cash is obviously king when it comes to time and speed poker would be a great fit. Check out the deal we have on WilliamHill. Use the promo code PTWH, deposit $20 and we will give you another $20 completely free into your account. Along with this you will get their VIP rewards, €1500 fast clearing deposit bonus and you will be able to play in all Pokertube value added Tournaments.

If you need help with any other options let me know

Good luck at the tables.

Yo George

IMO the first place to start is to decide what format you are going for. Playing little bits of everything is fine if you enjoy that thing but if you really want to give poker a serious shot you need to decide what game your going to play and put 100% of your time and dedication into that.

Once you decide the path becomes way clearer!

Brilliant...I'm no longer the oldest person on here (47). Smile

Welcome mate. I also had issues with dope (and also booze), and haven't touched anything for 8 years. I found I needed something to fill the void, and after overeating for years I've found mediation (or more specifically mindful meditation). It also helps with the mental side of poker.
