Hi all!

Don't think I have officially introduced myself before. My name is 'Dutchness'. Obviously from Holland but lived thein Southern California for the last 6 years. I had a dream and followed it in 2009. Last year I moved back to Europe. I have been playing fulltime for over 6 years. Never worked really hard but poker provided me with a great life with a lot of freedom. I have been having a really hard time at poker lately. I am fckn not giving up since I would just hate to abandon this lifestyle. I have started studying my preflop game using HEM. I am planning on to keep studying besides just playing, to become a winning player again, so I can keep following my dreams in life.

It's hard at times, but I am trying to embrace this journey called 'life' and am confident that I will end on the right side very soon again.

Thanks for reading and I will keep you guys updated if interested! Smile

As a fellow PokerVIP newbie, Welcome!

Nice to see you've lived in the Netherlands for a year. Living the "high" life is always a good time! After a while you do learn that weed really kills your motivation lol. Were where you in NL? Smile

My advice is to get a good rakeback deal here to start with. Deposit bonus + rakeback is a awesome start. Also, pick 1 network, 1 gametype and do proper bankroll management. For SNG's I think it's standard to start with 35 buy ins for turbos (guys please correct me if I'm wrong).

As for software: I think both PT4 and HM2 have 1 month free trials which are nice to try out. It's great to install them 1 at a time if you don't want to spend any money right now because you get to save your hands easily and be able to upload them here and get advice Smile

@paavelstoms Wolcome to PokerVip, and to Scotland Smile Where in Scotland did you decide to stay?

As for poker rooms - if you have no interest in using a HUD, then I suggest you use a site that doesn't allow them, like UniBet or Sky poker...they are both incredibly soft. Or as @silverace said, Download the free month trial for a HUD, because you will love it!

I got a free T-shirt when I signed up to Sky, when you sign up to a room, you have to let someone at the site know, otherwise you won't get it...I'm not even sure if they still do it TBH.

Anyway, GL at the tables!

Thanks for warm Welcome Smile

half year i was living in small town called Helmond...very close to Eindhoven and other half year i lived in realy small village called Wijk aan Zee... like 20min drive to Amsterdam... had many examples around who smoked at least few pots every day and you really understand that thats its not what you want...obviously i m not seeing anything bad if you smoking pot once a week.. its really helps to switch your mind off...and sometimes living a stressfull life pot is wat you need... but its ok if you disagree with me.. because sometimes it might turn as a habit and than again its can get bad...

i m thinking for a while to invest in programs but like i sad i m a beginer in this... thinking about HM2 and SitnGo Wizard .. is it usefull to have them bouth ? is it any other program which you suggest to get ?

well abut poker room.. i really need recomedation... ussaly i m up in nights so thats why im ussing Pokerstars..because there is always action.. i plaid a bit in Pady power but in nights games is +/- dead...thats why i m thinking about TigerGaming...its Canadian site so the action my start at night by my time...

well even playing for years i m still beginer at poker and i need to learn a lot .. but i have good feeling about that and hope things gonna go well for me Smile

I actually know what you mean about the winning thing. Cash games just seem to go on forever, with no end, no light at the end of the tunnel...I just feel once you've conquered cash, everything else comes easy!

I didn't actually know It was the old capital...shame on me Laugh

Dutchness: Hi all!

Hey Dutchness. We've seen you around already but good of you to say hi Cheeky There seem to be a few Dutch joining the site YesSmile

I'm sure all the content on here will help you, Jon has some great videos from nearly every stake to help everyone, so I would recommend giving them a watch!

Haha pretty hilarious opening line there. That spin and go must have felt amazing? When it started running how well did it go for you? Did you get off to a great start and never look back or was there some moments it could have easily been all over for you?

i never win something like this before so when you take down something like this you feel like in heaven ... but i started good,, i was the guy who knock out other player before we come heads up so after that i got some good cards and smashed my opponent..i think its took like max 10 min ..
but if we talk about my first real steps in poker than i have very good start ( well very good first few h Laugh ) when deposit my first money in pokerstars... but i didnt know anything about bankroll managament so when i made some money i started to play 50 up 30$ sit n gos with my bassic knowledge .. remember as yesterday... we was 6 players lef with blinds 200 - 400 .. i had 1200 chips on button...AK.. guy push all in before my and i call.. he got AQand hit Q on the flop.. almoust brake few my fingers against the wall... but of course i lost everything .. but than i win some kind of ticket to micro millions and get till the money and win something like 150 $ but that was when i was 19 i guess... well i few times had really good bankroll but like i sad before i actually start to read and learn i couldnt controll my limits .. i liked to go higher and higher.. i was trying to winn all money in one day... but what doesnt kill you makes you stronger... so no more mistakes like that and i m ready to never look back again.. so i m planing to do my last investment in poker.. get some sowtares and find some nice room where i can realize my potential... Hi Jessie,

Welcome to PokerVip Smile I think you need 10 posts in the forum to be able to start your own thread (journey), so get commenting because having a journey is a great way to improve by setting targets. You also get to show off some graphs Cheeky

What site do you play on? Are you more of a cash or tourney kind of person?

ok, i get it ]

so i will try collecting this 10 posts by answering your questions first.
I play mainly on Stars now, I was FTP fan since i started playing online, i had the most success there, but now i play more cash games than tournaments so Stars has far better traffic of course. Also i think the micro-low-buyin mtts is far better at full tilt or ipoker network than on the stars.

And ye, Im more of a tournament player, but right know im focused on cash, i have certain goals to make, then i will be back mainly in tournaments i think .

Hey welcome!

Assume you are a Europe-Bet player?

I was Europe-bet regular player for two years or so. but no longer. I don't like playing there anymore - especially on NL50 (gel) and higher.

now im playing at stars and some other rooms and feel happy about it.
