FierceProPlayer: Hi,

I am in my early 40s, started playing poker a few months ago! It's big fun!

Tried various formats, SNGs, (turbos, knockouts) MTTs, (Freerolls) Cash Games (Micro Stakes)!

Definitely considering to specialise in Cash Games and develop my Game as the future unfolds!

Feeling thrilled to have joined PokerVIP!

Thanks!

FierceProPlayer

Welcome to the site Smile

I feel cash games will improve your over all poker playing, so starting there I would recommend! What site are you currently playing on? How is the over-all poker playing going for you?

Thanks for the warm welcome to the site Smile
Currently playing at NetBet and Full Tilt!

The over all poker playing?! I would say it's going as I intend it to go! It's fun! Learning and improving my game every time I play!

Oh and thanks for recommending the cash games!

@FierceProPlayer Nice reasons for playing. You summed it up pretty well and i hope you stick to that mantra! Welcome btw Smile

Hey guys, I havent introduced my self yet but I'm sure many of you have seen my posts. So I'm 21 I used to grind MTT's at uni where I cashed for just over $10k profit. I moved to 6-max cash so I can choose my hours and lower the variance. I managed to get up to 100NL but since having to cash out I've been struggling to move back up and currently grind £10NL-$25NL. I recently started girding some omaha because the players are sooo bad. I'm currently applying for graduate jobs and using poker as a part-time job

Hi all. Fairly new to poker but I have learned more on this site than any other I have been on, would have saved myself
quite a lot of money if I discovered this site first.
For anyone stating out this is a absolute must site.
Now I must just complete the courses and I will be having fried fish everyday:)
Thank you

Hi BarraBod thanks for the welcome. I am from South Africa (so the exchange rates are killing me lol) And like I said I only stated playing recently, a very late starter, wrong side of 50. I signed up with Yacting thru the site, but should have done a proper investigation first as I cant use Holdem manager on the site, but I am learning there and so far so good , not crushing them yet Smile but winning small steadily.
The courses are a tremendous help for a old fart like me.
Good luck at the tables.

I don't think we have many South Africans on the site Smile But we do have a couple 50+ Yes Never too late to learn Cheeky

If you're like most people here, you can sign up to a few sites to keep your options open and take advantage of their sign up bonuses. Plus, some sites have different peak times for when the fish come out to play!

You should check out the My journey section to see other peoples journeys through poker and maybe start one of your own, to keep track of things.

How Ye POKERVIP forumites.I thought a good place to start would be in the introduce myself section,So here goes.

I live in a sleepy village called Horsforth where one man and his dog roaming is the highlight of my high street Smile I am 31 years old living with my wife and 3 children (ages 6-14). Originally I am from Ireland, and moved over here when I was 15 with my Da who got a job over here.Although i adore Ireland and everything Irish I am glad we did as the area is perfect for kids in today's world.

I studied at Manchester University, graduating in Business Studies and History and I am a self employed Electrician. So a completely different direction but we had fun whilst being there Smile

Pokerwise,i live,breath and sleep all things Poker.If i aren't playing then I'm reading,If i aren't reading then I'm watching.If I aren't doing these I'm a cantankerous old git Smile

My history, I started playing back in University and have been hooked ever since,I play at least 3 times a week live locally and travel to DTD as and whenever there is an event/festival.Online I started off just playing Sit and Go's initially and built up a steady Bankroll, threw in a bit of everything from weekly tournaments to cash. At one stage I was playing $0.50/$1 comfortably which can make quite a healthy living. As is probably the case with a lot of guys, responsibility hit me about 28 years old and withdrew a moderate amount. I since have just treated it as pure fun.

I have had quite a it of spare time of late, and circumstances have changed as the kids are getting older and have their own clubs and teams they go to so I'm starting back up again properly.

The majority of my background and my largest wins have come from tournaments so this is where I will be playing.Sit and Go's and MTT's and building up my BankRoll again through these like before

So that's me.
I will try and get involved in everything on the site.

hey guys,

my name is dom, 28 yo, from bavaria/germany. i play poker since 2007. started playing homegame SnGs. winning there almost always, i decided to take poker more srs and bought some books. registered at pokerstrategy in 2009, already playing live MTTs up to 200 bucks and 200NL cash. online i donked away one or the other k. i just thought "well, you beat 1/2 live, so why not doing online the same?". difference is, that live 200NL plays like 2NL online. some time went by, i was sick of losing all the money i won live at the online tables and started to take poker once more way more srs. around 2010 i was break even for the first tie in my life at online poker. but i never managed to play 100NL and above.

in 2011, 2012 and 2013 i deposited 50 bucks many times, always grinding it up to around 2 or 3k playing z25NL, up to 11$ MTTs and z10PLO mostly. reasons for quitting were always the same "omg, i run so bad, everything is rigged, ok bye bye online poker" or "gosh i'm so sick of grinding all day, every day, why not withdraw it all and spend some nice days in asia" or "damn, let's get drunk, high and laid".

anyways, i was off for almost 2 years just doing stuff. i study journalism at daytime. in the evening you can find me at the movies watching the latest blockbusters, chillin' at home playing some videogames or at the bars&restaurants eating out and getting drunk. i still beat live games up to 500NL live and 50NL online but i'm not rolled atm. away from the tables i do a lot of toy GTO stuff, discussing hands on 2+2, pokerstrategy and pokermarket or on skype. i work with equilab and crev a lot. i am not taking the whole poker thing too srs anymore, but i am just super interested in all that fenzy frequency/GTO/range stuff and love to do a little math from time to time. obv this stuff is way to advanced on micro stakes and you should just play your standard value poker, playing your hand and giving a shit about your range. this is how you crush there, in all honesty. but it is very good for you as a player to proceed and get better and better. and it is very good for your mindset too! i was a tiltbox for almost all my life at everything lol. a little GTO work an some mediation hours later, i am comepletly and absolutely tilt free. as i said, for now my focus is on poker theory and not so much on playing. but i nevertheless managed to click some buttons this month.

LOVE YOUR NAME HAHA. That is one of the best names i have seen in a while....do you have it set as that on all the poker sites?

Really sick intro there and seems like you are a grinder in both life/work/poker running a business, looking after a family and playing poker...not sure if i could do that!!!

What does your family think about poker?

Welcome buddy! Sounds like you are a serious poker head and love the game! What was your first reaction to GTO when you heard about it? Which players do you admire?

well i am not that much of a fanboy and there are so many great players out there. they absolutely don't need to be "the ebst" at their game, sometimes it is just how i am feel entertained when i watch them pla or what thy do for society and charity and so. but to name some:

highstakes online: isildur, kanu, fish2013
gto/theory: Internet, Sauce
live/entertainment: ivey, patrik antonius, phil hellmuth, durrrr
Posted 9 years ago
haha that GIF is epicccccccccc

Yeh Fish, Kanu and Sauce seem to get love from everyone so pretty safe to say they are some of the best online if not THE best. Interesting that you said Isil...what about his game do you like?
Posted 9 years ago
well, he's just somewhat of a sicko. his rollercoaster-like mirrion dollar swings, how he plays anybody, any game, anytime, any stake... gues that is what makes him the perfect entertainer in my eyes Wink

Yeh gotta love him for the sickness. Shame he isn't more open - if he was on snapchat it could be the sickest ever
