JPMagic: Hello PokerVIP

I just signed up at Sky Poker after watching the Micro series.Hopefully I have managed to do it all correct and get included in the Top 500 races now.I have played card games since my early years getting hustled by Grandma and Grandad over the kitchen table on a saturday evening.Since then I have been hooked on any format.I play daily several hours a day but not professionally.

Info

28 - years old
SN - JPMagic
Site - Sky Poker
Games - MTT's Max Buy In on prior sites $55 So on sky we will have to wait and see.Cash Tables upto NL25 again probably NL20 on Sky to begin with.
Playing since 1995 Smile
From the United Kingdom
and I am not a fan of fish sticks,I don't own any dogs either.

Little Brag to open my account here too.Whilst typing this I've just booked my first win.A cheeky 1st place in the BH.Sweet.

Hello! I'm Matej, 18 years old and I'm from Croatia.
I started playing poker about 8 months ago on Pokerstars and like it a lot so far and hope to continue playing poker in the future.
Started off with micro MTT's and SNG's but switched to cash games after a few months.
I really like this site, forums, community and pretty much everything about it even tho I'm just getting into it.
I hope to be a part of the community and probably start a "My poker journey" thread soon after I get a real HUD (currently playing with the basic version of jivaro on PS).
Also plan on depositing on one of the promoted sites to get RB deals. My screen name is scraper420.

P.S. Also this is my first post on the forums I hope its readable. Smile

Welcome to the forum Matej. What stakes are you currently playing?

It's definitely worth checking out some rake back deals. If you don't like the other sites then you can always move back to Pokerstars. Did you have any MTT cashes?

I always recommend people start with cash, because if you get good at cash, MTT should come easier.

Hi poker folks!

My name is David, I'm a 24yo economics student from Austria and I've been playing Poker for 5 years with over 600k hands just breakeven (because of monkey tilt on higher limits), now I'd describe myself as a winning semi-professional player for 1 year.

I play about 500-1500 hands every evening NLHE100 Cashgame 6-max at PartyGaming Network (I'm trying to set up a strict schedule as imo this is necessary for me to be succesful in both poker and university studies). Usually I play Speed Tables but I also play normal tables. I'm also interested in learning PLO but I am not very good at it (it's a total completely different game).

I signed up at BWIN with the Poker-VIP rakebackdeal just a few days ago and this site looks great to me. I am going to enjoy the forum, articles and the training-videos. My aim is to play 250k hands in 2016 (and to get to midstakes).

Cheers!

Hi BarraBod and thanks for the warm welcome!

I'm currently playing 5nl on PokerStars and I'm on my first bigger downswing in cash (about 8 BI) so I'm looking for ways of improving my game.
As for the MTT's , they're the reason I switched to cash because I was very frustrated by the variance in them and haven't had any big cashes.
I started with a $60 BR and dwindled down to around $15 by playing the SNG's and MTT and that's when I decided to play cash.
I've been slowly building my BR ever since. I'm pretty happy with where I am right now and take the downswing as a challenge and not a defeat!

I don't have any incomes so I hope to deposit on one of the sites as soon as I grind out enough money to do so.

Great post and a nice choice of avatar there :).

So how does an 18 year old lad from Croatia get into this beautiful game of poker? For me when i was 18 (10 years ago) it was pretty easy as well poker is all we ever heard of back then with all the tv shows, Moneymaker boom, the ease of the games back then on Party etc and well it was just a lot more talked about if feel!

Will head over to the journey forum soon and check it out!

Welcome! I feel i have seen your name before?

100nl player winning as a semi pro playing 500-1500 hands per night... sounds like you are doing better than most full time pros!

Do you find your win rate changes much from the regular vs speed games?

Well at first I heard my friends talking about playing some home games and it wasn't very attractive to me but as soon as I won the tournament the first time I played I got hooked on it and deposited shortly after that loving it ever since.

I'll post the whole story with some graphs (hopefully) on the poker journey thread as soon as I can.

Hello!

Yes we have written via Email about the Bankroll Offering. I declined that because of the 50% monthly share of the winnings. Yes I am running really good, I can say I am crushing those limits with over 6bb/100hands (sample about 100k hands). On speedtables that's a lot.
Referring to the Normaltable vs Speedtable issue: I play on PartyGaming Network so they don't offer enough tables to gather the volume needed to pay daily expenses. But I am 100% sure that Normaltables are much softer than Speedtables because fish prefer to play normal speed tables.

I have lots of experience in constructing ranges (I worked on my game with help from Snowie, which improves my understanding of game theory optimal play and put that into ways to extract money from other good players (regulars). Poker what's most about in the end is pushing frequencies up and down a bit (or better: a lot Smile from your optimal balanced line in order to see opponents reaction on to exploit these reactions. And fishes, weak player you can just valuetown all day long as usual.

I cannot get a good winrate because of the lack of regular tables, so yes it changes the winrate much.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Chris aka HOUDINI101, I am 32 years old and from the from the steel city of Sheffield, UK.
I only play 10nl 6 max cash regular games at Pokerstars and multi table at a maximum of 12 tables, but my main goal is to move up stakes like the vast majority of us all.
I have played poker on and off for the past 10 years and I'm not afraid to say I've never really had any long term success apart from early 2014 - January to May, when I had a sustained win rate for a period of months which saw me take a few unsuccessful shots at 25nl which really knocked my confidence.
Due to work commitments I then had to stop playing for a while and never really got back into it until recently where I've again started multi tabling at 10nl on stars.
I have previously been part of another poker training site where I discovered my main inspiration at these stakes - Nathan Williams aka Blackrain79.
In turn I've purchased both his books, watched his videos etc etc and recently saw on his site a recommended link to this site which is how I came to join.
Its always been a dream of mine to sustain long term success at internet poker, I consider myself very motivated, put in decent volume per month when playing (average 50k - 75k) but feel I would greatly benefit from a structured way of learning/improving my game.
I would love to post a short video of my game for people to critique and if I could be directed as to how to do this (the previous training site allowed this) I would be very grateful?

Hey buddy welcome to the site. Where does the alias come from?

yeh blackrain is a beast and has been a fixture in the games for so long so whatever he says is completely legit!

Video review I have just seen you put your name down in the correct thread. We are having a nightmare with our screen recording software as it was hacked so will get it sorted asap and get you hooked up!

Will Stars be your home in 2016?
Posted 8 years ago
Jon,

The alias comes from way back when I first started playing Live poker at a weekly pub league event myself and family use to run. People chose your alias for you as a bit of a laugh and one guy (due to me being a lose maniac fish!) said as I sucked out on him - "Only Houdini could get himself out of those situations!", hence it became my alias.
I have tried and experimented with other sites in the past but seem to gravitate towards Stars especially at the 10nl level I'm at at the moment, for me its just so convenient to sit down anytime of day as a multi tabler and be guaranteed at least 9 tables with at least 1 decent fish per table - more than often 2.

I sort of have it in my mind that if I move up to say 50nl I'll reassess and maybe ask advice as to where to play that offers best rakeback etc.
It is a bit of a dream of mine to make supernova on stars and maintain a win rate but that is pie in the sky stuff, short term I would love to see decent improvements in my game and become established at 25nl.
