Hey Everybody,

I'm 41, from Canada, been playing online mostly (some live) for almost 10 years, though I played in high school in a friend's basement for nickels, dimes, and quarters, mostly 5 card draw back then.

I play mostly NLH, but am competent at other games (a recent new favourite of mine is Courchevel H/L, both Pot and No-Limit).

I heard about this forum through Facebook and am interested in seeing what there is, as I am always looking to improve my game (won't ever master it, but that's what makes learning fun).

I look forward to interacting with you guys/gals. Enjoy your holidays and spending time with loved ones.

Nickels and dimes! Love hearing that reminds me of any good poker film!

Glad you made your way over here. Basically to sum the forum up - lots of poker players at all stages trying to improve and have fun with the game. Also no trolls allowed!

Hope that suits you!

mmmmm ongame those were some great days! I remember when it all started to fail and was so saddened by it. Never understood why it was failing tho as there was always plenty of traffic and the software was fine.

Which site do you play on now?

Hi everyone, my name is Keith, I am 34 years of age and although I am originally from Birmingham, I now live in Oxfordshire. I first started playing poker on Pokerstars back in 2005 but to say I have been playing for over 10 years would be a major exaggeration. I stopped in 2006 as I no longer had time to play (my hours were spent mainly between work, playing pool and betting exchanges). I wasn't a serious poker player in those days to be honest, I was a break even player at best and only used to play here and there for a bit of fun. Me and my wife had twin boys back in 2014 and since March 2015 I have reduced my work to a mere 8 hours per week so I can stay at home and take care of our boys. I now have more time on my hands so have been getting back into poker since the end of 2015 (only during the boys nap times though...I'm not neglecting them I promise!! Laugh ). I have watched multiple videos on this site (mainly from Jon-PokerVIP - which I have found fantastic btw and would recommend to anyone). I have decided to start from the very bottom and try to work my way up through the limits. I moved away from Pokerstars and went onto Sky poker after watching Jon's recent series on that site. Unfortunately as I already had an account with Sky I could not link my Sky account to here so after speaking to Senad on multiple occasions I signed up with Unibet through PokerVIP. I might open a 'my poker journey' thread soon but I thought in the meantime I had better introduce myself rather than just nosing on the site without being logged in!

Hey Keith.

Sick intro there! Congrats on the twins - that must have been one amazing feeling and when the time comes i would love to do what you did, less time at work and have more input bringing my kids up. I really think children benefit massively from this so if you are 'lucky' enough to be able to do it then yeh its amazing.

Thanks for the kind words and sorry to hear about Sky not being able to be linked - They are pretty strict with that which is silly as you have just proven...they snap lose a customer to Unibet. Unibet is a great choice and I have a series coming out for there just like the Sky one in Feb. I will do 5/10/20nl 6 parts overall, 2 parts at each stake. So i really hope that is beneficial to you and it helps you crush everyone!

Yeh get involved. Would love to see a journey!

Anything you need PM me and will look forward to seeing you around here.

Good luck

Jon

Hey Matty!

Good site choices there. A lot of people are really enjoying the Party games. How is the traffic?

Are you mixing 10/25nl when you grind or are you currently shot taking there as such? Getting to 50nl seems totally possible!

Hi everyone. I thought I'd put a proper introduction in here.

I'm Mark from the UK. I'm 38 and have played poker since back in 2005, and cash games for a living since 2010. After degening my way around Thailand for most of the last 5 years I have decided to attempt some new projects instead of just relying on actually playing poker to put food on the table. I'm trying my best to be a proper 'grown up' before I turn 40 next year.

Some of you might have noticed I've written a few articles for PokerVIP this year, and now I'm writing news articles for Pokertube as well. A great opportunity which I didn't see coming at all.

On top of that I'm trying to do a maths degree part time with the Open University and have recently started working on a social media project with Jon-PokerVIP, so it's busy busy right now and I'm not getting much chance to play at all.

Other stuff I enjoy is chess which is more of an addiction than poker, and I'm a huge motorsport nut. I was involved with racing karts from back in the mid 80's and have seen almost all the recent Formula One drivers come through the ranks from them being only 8 years old.

As far as my poker skillz go, I've played up to $100NL 6 Max as a middle of the road reg, but after Black Friday when it got ridic tough, I have just messed around in the micros treating it as a video game really. I've also been asked to do some line check reviews in the forum, so hopefully some of you guys and gals will find my replies helpful. I'm not the best player helping out in that forum by a long way, but I do have a ton of experience.

If anybody has any ideas for articles or anything for Poker VIP at all really, don't be shy about shipping me a PM.

Mark

Hey guys,

I'm Andrew from Hungary. Got here by looking for SNG strategies on youtube, aaand I was surprised to see some 1-hour pokervip courses up for completely free. I found them very practical and helpful. To give back something to the community, I ended up here signing up. I'm in the learning phase of poker, I've been playing, well, for I guess a half a year now, mostly micro SNGs and jackpot SNGs. Haven't won any jackpots though. (The easiest-to-hit jackpot sng was just removed from ipoker, it hurts)

What I realised is that folks playing micro stakes are pretty easy to beat, calling underpairs, bluffing all-ins sometimes. So I try to build a decent bankroll with $1-$2 SNGs now, while eventually playing MTTs to try my luck.

Long term plans? As soon as I feel comfortable with my bankroll, I plan to play mainly MTTs. They are always a good challenge, even tough it requires a bit different gameplay than what I currently do at SNG tables.
