@DEVILPOKER Hi D, and welcome aboard.
Yes live is softer, but it is also a different game than 6max, even micro stakes. Live people play looser ranges, their stacks are shorter while the initial raises are bigger, and almost every pot is multiway. Play tight from EP, and while overlimping in LP is ok in a couple of instances, calling a raise only makes sense if stacks are deep enough to warrant it. Don't get fancy, almost all of your money will come from value bets, not bluffs.
Live tourneys are total donkaments, play is terribad, you will easily know more than at least 80% of the field, but structures and rake are even worse. But they are a safer way to sit down for the first time, since your potential loss is capped.
My path over the past 10 years was the same as yours: started online STT then MTT, eventually online cash. Got the live bug and tried it out, I love the social aspect as well as the making money part. My advice is to not think in exact terms about BR right away. There will come a time for that if/when you want to move up in stakes, but for now, if it's money you can afford to lose, just play your game. Obv keep track of all wins/losses, otherwise you will become just another punter who lies t himself about how good you are.
In the "lifestyle/off-topic" section I have a "Live poker" thread, mostly just my personal blog of random shit that happens to me, but there is some info about taking notes at the table you may want to check out. Also my thoughts about BRM and how it's changed as I debate moving up.
Final piece of advice: get there on the river. It's great for your bottom line.
