UFC Rothwell vs Dos Santos

Posted 8 years ago

The next UFC is upon us and not exactly a stacked card BUT I feel this main event will be incredible. They both could retire after this or be trying to put on a huge performance to get resigned or taken on elsewhere. Dos has been in some of the best battles in MMA an Rothwell aint scared of anything

Dos Highlights

For me I see a pretty clear win for Dos but anything can happen!

Rothwell is a beast. In fact, when I look at the top 6-7 HWs, I can envision any of them winning on any given night. It just feels like such an unpredictable division.

Last card, I said I'd heard of 2.5 guys outside of ME? I'm not sure I get past 1.5 with this card. Sad UFC has 3 events in April, the final one has 2 title fights plus Showtime Pettis, but the other 2 cards are weak sauce.

The UFC HW division allows for zero mistakes. If you put your hand down for a second and they hit your clean, you're going down. Getting hit by guys this big it doesn't matter how strong your jaw is lol. Compare that to the 145b where you can make a few more mistakes and not pay the price.

I can't even make a prediction on who will win because of my comment above haha. Going with Rothwell though as he's on a good streak. Agree card is weak, most likely why they've held it in Croatia.

You not think Rothwell just looked so slow tho in his last fight? I don't think he can go 3 rounds at Santos pace!

Yeh these cards are weak but it is on purpose as such - building territories slowly and lets face it we have the best 4 months of fights in UFC history ahead of us!!!!

I didn't say he was fast, just that he's a beast. JDS is much faster for sure, but it wasn't too long ago that Cain was supposed to usher in a new type of HW, but the one-punch power boys are still here.

Though you should clearly ignore everything I say about MMA. I used to think that Alaister Overeem had all the tools, big, strong, steroids, and still super-technical on his feet, and was a lock to win the belt, but he seems to lack something in his mindset. In his losses he comes out flat, doesn't display any urgency during the fight.

Ha yeh I just feel if Dos pushed the pace Rothwell will gas and that power punch may not be as effective. Remember as well Dos has taken some seriously hard shots in his time.....

That fight was epic. Though prob should have been stopped in the 3rd. Sometimes I get pretty conflicted about watching MMA...but it's sooo good sometimes.

Yeh he was smashed all over but that is what fighting is all about - true warrior shit!
