Just learn to breathe and do it for 5 minutes to start, that'll be hard enough to maintain. You'll find your brain jumps straight to any slight noise at the beginning, anything at all. once you have that bit cracked you're on your way.
Finding somewhere to settle down when you have a house full of life is the biggest challenge.

Fortunately, peace and quiet are not an issue for me especially in the morning when I like to meditate. As for the difficulties with meditation, I'm quite experienced with it, I just had a long break and that's the main source of my problems which are now all but gone. I'm staying mostly consistent and I hope to make those 5-10 minutes of meditation the staple of my morning routine in the months to come.

I'm back to using a guided meditation mp3. It's a crutch for sure, but clearly I was limping along anyway, so it's good for now.
