MattVIP: i5-2400 is actually a pretty good CPU. Not the newest but pretty good. 8gb of ram is also like a sweet spot for poker so if that's what you mainly use your PC for then I can imagine it's serving you well. As for the monitor, I'd go for something with higher resolution that your current one so that you can fit more tables on the screen, and probably an IPS panel for the good color reproduction and viewing angles. This is a pretty cheap option that should work really well for you and you don't really need to spend much more than that (unless this particular monitor is not in stock then you might have to): BenQ VZ2350HM

Cheers for that Matt. I'll look in to that. Might even stop in there as I'm driving past there tomorrow. Might check if they're open. That's only about 2km from where I went to Uni.

@MinerBoy23 If they don't have this particular BenQ monitor here's the information that you need to give to they guy that works in the shop in order to pick suitable alternative:
- Your budget (so max 350$ in your case).
- Tell him you want 1080p resolution (or in other words 1920x1080/Full HD).
- You're interested in 23-24-inch monitors (20-22-inch would probably also be fine but don't go above 24-inch, bigger is not always better).
- You want an IPS panel (much better color reproduction and viewing angles than other types of panels).
- You need the DVI-D port on your monitor.

They should have at least a couple of monitors that fit this description. As for the brand, nowadays it doesn't really matter. While Samsung and LG used to be the go-to options nowadays pretty much every company makes good monitors.

Ah cool awesome.

This is something I had wondered.

Sure thing. If you have any more questions let me know. Oh and post a photo of your new monitor once you get it;)

Hi all, an I.T. fish could use a little help possible. jonVIP suggested asking here.

I'm having trouble watching some vids, for example:

Americas Card Romm $nl10 Liveplay Part 2/4

I can watch for 9 or 10 minutes and then it freezes and wont go further even with refresh or reload. Watching full screen is even worse.
Similar problems with other vids but not all oddly.

I have some software called 'speccy', which reads my desktop pc specs so I can post them here if anyone is interested.

It is not a new machine, it's an emergency refurbished one to replace one which decided to give me the blue screen of death treatment.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Yes

@Pwll
This sounds like more of a software than hardware issue so for now you don't have to give me your computer specs. Were you able to watch videos on this machine without any problems in the past? Which browser do you use? This issue can be caused by any number of things and I'm not sure if I'll be able to help you but we can certainly try.

For now try one of those two things:
- If you're using browser different than google chrome update your flash using this link: CLICK!
- If that doesn't help and or you were using google chrome, try to watch videos using a different browser.

I had no problems beforehand and Youtube seems to be ok. I use Chrome for most things but windows 10 seems to be very buggy so gets the blame for everything. Cheeky

I'll give your suggestions a go and let you know how I get on.

Thank you very much for replying.

Hi, I have pretty much the same question as MilfGrinders question on 1/2/15, I need a laptop that will run Smoothly with NoteCaddy edge Ultimate, I'm in the UK with £1000 budget

@WalterWhite
First question. Does it have to be a laptop (is PC an option)? Also, is it only for poker or do you also want to be able to play some games on it (if so what kind of games).

Hey Matt! Very off topic, but maybe you can suggest me a good smart phone as well? I want a cheap one, >200eur. I'm looking at just5 blaster 2, which is 150 eur, but I'm probably missing something.

I'm actually not an expert when it comes to smartphones, but I did some research on this very subject since I'm looking for something in similar price range. Can you post a link to the shop you're planning on using (so I can check what's in your price range)? Also, do you know what's important to you in a phone (good camera, games, snappy interface) or do you want it to be solid in general?

Without the additional info, I can definitely recommend Motorola Moto G (2nd or 3rd gen it doesn't really matter that much and 2nd gen is cheaper, just look for the one with LTE support) for the overall solid experience. It has adequate specs (not super powerful, but not weak by any means) and near stock android (which means there's not a lot of additional apps installed by the manufacturer, the phone is clean and snappy). If you're a little more adventurous I'd look into something like Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 or Lenovo K3 note. Those phones are really powerful for the price but come with somewhat modified software. While many people like the MIUI version of android in Xiaomi phones Lenovo isn't that well regarded. You can always install custom ROM on your phone, but many people wouldn't bother. Also, I'm not sure if you can get those phones in official distribution in your country.

Thanks for the replay! I'll probably get it ftom THIS shop. I don't need it for anything specific, although it would be cool if the phone in 2015 has a calling function. Smile And I like it when everything runs quick! Moto G looks pretty good! And the just5 is a no-no?

EDIT: ahh yes, I really don't like windows phones
Posted 9 years ago
Spec wise that just5 phone looks similar to Moto G (slightly better even), but I've never heard of this brand which is super strange because I've researched some obscure Chinese stuff etc. If you know for a fact that this is a good company you've read some review etc. then you should be fine, but I'd go for a name brand like Motorola. The stock Android experience on its own is worth the price of admission and I doubt that the system in just5 phone will be equally as clean and snappy.

Thanks again, Matt! I'll go with Moto G then.

just5 is actually Latvian based, ran by Russians though. They've been around here for a while, started with these old people calculator phones, which are brilliant!

Moto G should serve you very well especially if it's your first Android phone or you've been using current one for a while. I don't know which carrier you're using, and how well LTE works in Latvia but if you're going for 2nd gen Moto G (it's probably like 10 or 20 euros cheper) make sure it has LTE support (if you end up browsing the web a lot on your phone it will make that a lot more comfortable). My brother is actually using Moto G and I had some hands on experience with it because of that. It's not the most powerful phone in this price range, but it's up there + in terms of functionality it's probably one of the best out there.

As for the just5 phone, again it might not be bad if it's a well-known company in your country since spec wise that phone seems slightly better than Moto G. I'd just be worried about the support because they look like a niche company. Those phones for elderly folks sure look amazing though.

Hey Matt,

my laptop recently broke down so it's time for a new PC.

1) I would like it to be as cheap as possible, somewhere around 500-600€
2) I'll use it only for poker, no gaming
3) Usually 4-6 regular tables with Holdem Manager HUD running
4) I need only a new monitor
5) I live in Croatia so this might be a problem. Last time I bought components for my PC in this Shop, it's near where I live and they also build it for free, so if you can translate the site in English try to find something there, if not make a list of parts and I'll figure something out Smile

Using the shop that you linked shouldn't be a problem just let me know what's your budget in the currency that's used on the site and I should be able to put something together for you. Also, I'm not sure if I understood one of the points correctly. You need one new monitor right? Will you use it on its own or will you pair it with your old monitor?

Oh sry, 1€ = 7.5 HRK (kn) so budget would be around 4000kn. I played on a laptop so I need a monitor, I will use only 1 as I mostly play 4-6 tables.

Ok, one last question. Do you need a copy of windows or do you have one already?
