Eat my lyrics

So there is a thread for what you're listening to but not for song lyrics. What's your favourite lyric? Post it with the singer/writer/band, or without and let people guess. Or if you're a budding songwriter show off your best work.

I'll go first with a line from probably my favourite band:

"When the paper's crumpled up it can't be perfect again."

True in every sense, I always loved this line. Name the band and track...

Interesting thread. I'm listening to a lot of instrumental stuff, but I really appreciate good songwriting. A line from "Right in Two" by Tool is one of my personal favorites: "Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here."

It's a riff or other famous quote and it could have some religious connotations, but nowadays I feel like it describes the fact that many people feel disenfranchised and disconnected from the grand ideas of the past like community, empathy, honor etc. The line is also great because musically it goes very well with those weird timings Tool uses. So good!

Big Sean ft Chris Brown: My Last

Big ass bottles, big ice buckets
I work too hard to be ballin' on a budget
Me and my people do it big out in public
Cause if you don't do it big
Bitch you ain't doing nothing

The song from the last Fear The Walking Dead episode (great show so far, much more consistent than TWD) totally took me by surprise and grabbed by the soul. It's called Coxcomb Red by Song: Ohia. I was particularly impressed with this fragment:

You said every road is a good road
Between the next road and your last road
Every love is your best love and every love is your last love
And every kiss is a goodbye
