Vaping

What are people's opinions on vaping? I've been a smoker for years and have been using a standard mod for about 6 months or so. I just use regular tobacco flavoured liquid 6mg strength which is quite low. Has been really easy to give up smoking with this but I don't know, I kind of feel like if I didn't have it tomorrow I'd be struggling, so I'm not sure they are that effective in helping you quit but obviously a much better option then smoking. The idea is to wean off of it eventually I guess but that will be the hard bit!

Thinking of upgrading my current one. What does everyone else use? And what flavour liquids etc? Recommend any good sites to buy?

I know very little about vaping and I'm not planning on making it my new habit, but I'm curious - have you really managed to quit regular cigarets and completely substitute them with vaping? If so (and if I conclude after some rudimentary research that it is in fact not as bad for the health as smoking) I might start to recommend it to people.

Also, even though I know nothing about vaping when it comes to flavours you can never go wrong with cherry!

Yes I have not had one cigarette since I gave up and nor do I want one. I crave this now rather then cigarettes. The liquid still contains nicotine though, but I am on one of the lowest strengths and you can get nicotine free liquids of course.

90% of people I know who used to smoke now vape. It seems more the norm these days, at least with the people that I know.

From what I have researched the type of vapourisers I use are very little health risk, pretty much nothing. The liquid itself is toxic when ingested but quite extensive studies have shown once vaporised it's pretty much harmless. Of course it's hard to know really the long term effects but it has to be a better alternative to smoking health wise.

When researching bare in mind that there is quite a difference between those disposable e-cigs that you can buy at petrol stations etc that look similar to cigarettes and the vaporisers which most use. Those e-cigs from what I have read can contain dangerous chemicals and are made by tobacco companies. Vape shops don't even sell them. A lot of the studies/articles you will read are referring to those rather then vaporisers too.

I hate vaping and anyone who vapes, there is no reason for my prejudice. I bet you @Jon-PokerVIP vapes as he grinds, that image has now made me mad for some reason.

I'm going outside now to get some sunshine.

Wow thanks Harvie lol shoot me now Laugh

Beats smoking though? Or are you a smoker and that's the reason?

I asked around about this and apparently the vapour is very safe to both smoker and neighbours.

I would say that these weren't around when I gave up. I was a chain smoker, a professional at it, spending around £40 a day, so I tried nicotine patches and chewing gums, both full 4mg of course and like a boss I had 2 patches on, chewing gum and still chain smoking all at the same time. Unsurprisingly I was not feeling very well! Puke
It used to be if someone saw me and I didn't have a cigarette in my mouth then it just wasn't me. I loved it when the clocks went on so I could pile another 12 fags or so into me. If anyone can smoke more than 7x20 packets a day or 4 packets of 50g tobacco hand rollers I give up, they win.

Then I met my mrs and gave up; just like that, no help, no weaning off crap, no cutting down bs, just stopped. Responsibility hit, I'd never had responsibility before and it was a shock. Not one of my friends believed I'd stopped for months, lol.

Anyway, my advice is just do it, after the first week you'll be fine. The difference in my general wellbeing is immense.

My only issues with vaping are the smoking habit is ongoing using them, the actions of it. Find something to do instead of it like miss it after food or whatever.

My other problem is that shops sell them to kids who think his vaping thing is a new craze and they'll be cool if the do it.

'nuff ramble from me, gl giving them up, it's only willpower.

LOL wtf @Harvie ...what did I do to earn that vicious attack?

I do not smoke nor do i vape!

However my sis vapes menthol 6mg and also has not had a cig since she started so it seems like a winner to me! I would say tho there are a lot of bad liquids on the market and even fakes being produced plus a ton of it is just made in peoples bedrooms. So I would suggest going for a known brand and not buying it on the cheap!

I have nothing against smoking (I don't smoke) but the idea of holding a stupid pen and puffing some smoke doesn't sit right with me. I lump vaping in the same category as vegans, crossfit, ISIS and hipsters. I'm sorry but if you vape we cannot be friends.

Looool @Pwll that did make me giggle! And yes I agree that until I give this up I'm probably not going to be too far away from potentially smoking again at any point. I can go long periods of time without it like around friends who don't smoke at all I won't have it so maybe it won't be too difficult, as you said Its just will power!

@Jon-PokerVIP yes very true and I don't ever touch the cheap ones, wouldn't dare!

@Harvie lol GFY

@Harvie I understand the fact that people get a bit too much into certain things and use them not because of their merit but rather to make themselves look 'cool' (also, this is just a theory, but the fact that we've become a secular society fairly recently left a sort of genetic void in our lives and that's one of the reasons why vaping of veganism enthusiasts can resemble religious fanatics at times - we have a tendency to overcompensate). That being said, there's nothing inherently wrong in vaping or being vegan or even CrossFit (the last one is debatable, but it's hard to hate on something that's putting barbells in the hands of so many people), however people who flood their facebook page with CrossFit workouts or go on and on about how meat is murder over a dinner with friends can be super annoying - even to a vegan Smile
