Yeh some of the plays are crazy, hoping there's still plenty of that further up the micros!

I'm not sure I'm "qualified" to comment on other people's hands too much, I can just about analyse my own! Hard even to do much of that with no tracking but I'm recording my sessions now and noting times to go back and watch.

Quick question on bankroll. I've got more than enough across my various accounts to play up to 25NL. But I've only been winning at 4NL since moving to Sky this year (I was breaking even on iPoker for about 6 months). My Sky balance is currently £158. I saw on another thread that people were aiming for £350 before moving up. Do you think I should go for that target or is it worth taking a shot sooner? I'm probably just getting ahead of myself after some run good. Is there much of a different in the jump from 4 to 10NL?

It is not about being qualified it to me is always about learning. Question the hands, say what you think about it, have some back and forth. The more you put out there the more you get back!

4nl and 10nl jump is not much different at all. I would play 10nl personally if i was you

@Jon-PokerVIP I'll try to get involved more.

Think I'll wait a little longer before giving 10NL a go. I did sit down at an 8NL table today just for one orbit to see how people played. Saw the same limp folding/limp calling junk that goes on at 4NL. Made me feel a little better after a bad session where I ended up completely spewing out of frustration. Hasn't happened in a while but still too easily, so best I get a better handle on that shit before moving up.

Just don't get too comfortable where you are is my only advice, it will cost you value. That one jump isn't much different from nl4 to the next at micros.
Obviously your mindset makes a difference but I sat about not moving because it was easier.
Just a thought.

Not the best week on the tables, perhaps down 2 buyins. Very few big pots. I spewed a buyin earlier in the week after getting frustrated from getting no action for 300 hands. How ridiculous is that!? Only 300 hands, breaking even, and I tilt enough to literally say "fuck off" to the screen as I shove AK on the turn when I know I'm beat. And yet later in the week I can laugh it off when I get it in good against two players and lose, my nut straight against both their 2 pairs - obviously one of them turns a full house. I've realised that this is the biggest leak in my mental game: If an hour goes by and I'm break even or at a slight loss because I get no action when I have the nuts or villains are constantly out flopping me or binking the river, I start getting wound up. I think this will improve now that I've identified it and can inject some logic. What does a slow session matter, or being down a stack or two. I made 13 buyins last week, this is a blip that will have no effect on long term winnings.

Anyways with the rake race payment this week my current balance on Sky is:

Not far off doubling my starting balance for the year. Ready to crush this week in the build up to the OPL. Can't wait!! Muscle

Interesting thought process that is for sure.

The truth is you need to take a step back and look at this from a different POV. Poker is not about winning big sums of money in a small time period...well cash games is not. The aim is to make money consistently and over a long period of time.

1. Your playing poker - people would love to have a bankroll and the chance to sit and play for hours.
2. Remember the game is fun.
3. Think long term
4. Everytime you get impatient really think why?

I think you just gotta take a chill pill and enjoy it basically Smile

You're absolutely right and for the most part I do just enjoy sitting and playing some hands. Especially now that I'm more focused on playing good poker on 4 tables rather than trying to play as many tables as possible to get as many hands in as I can. I'm loving poker right now but an impatient, short tempered little shit that's always been in there still busts out now and again. It's getting better though, my mental game in poker and general temperament in life is a million miles from where it was a year ago.

Thanks.

And not to be results oriented but I'm edging closer to doubling the bankroll.

Yeh just watched it, cheers! Would love to do another one soon. If I remember rightly when I made the video I just fired up 4 tables and got straight into it, which I think leads to worse concentration, not thinking as quickly or as well. I now always just open 2 tables and make sure I have some sort of read on every player before opening a third table, and same again before the fourth. It means not only do I know exactly who my marks are but also helps me get into the zone and handle the pace better.

^ standard! Emo

Very nice double up of the BR by the way, going well sir.

What would you say was your biggest leak now? Mine is getting too passive when the villains get very aggro which is common on anonymous tables; I tend to clam up a bit like a wimp.

@Pwll I'd say not thinking enough post flop. I make silly, avoidable mistakes that just require taking a second to think about villains range, the board run out and their play. Think I've said it before that I play much better when I'm on my own and can talk myself through each hand. I kind of listen to myself and have more of a reason for each decision.

Swingy day playing against some total whales. And no OPL for me tonight so tv and a few beers. Might need to see the GP this week, guts are hurting after the hernia incident.
