@jongordon84 I kinda missed your comeback. Sorry about that sir:) I'll be keeping close attention to this thread from now on.

I don't hate your line in that T9 hand, though I'd most likely just call in position, especially without any flush blockers (not that it's crucial but in poker, every little bit of advantage helps even when we're talking marginal card blocking effects). As played that 8 on the river is kinda terrible because it doesn't help you rep anything and it likely won't scare away the villain who called the turn on a real scare card. I'd likely skip the river bluff on this particular river.

I don't like the bluff in the hand number two. You can definitely defend your decision to call the flop, but I don't see many NL4 opponents going anywhere once they committed to two bets on a monotone board.

Once again sir. I'm glad you're back and I can't wait for future updates.

EDIT: I was referring to the last two hands posted in this thread btw, the ones in the last post on the first page.

Day 5

My back is well and truly against the ropes!

Check out the highlights below for some more donkey play and a pretty nasty cooler.

It has been an odd couple of weeks with some highs and lows. But right now I feel good. 19 days alcohol free and I couldn't be happier about that decision. I had a job interview last week and found out earlier this week that I got it. Very excited about that. It will cut my daily travel time by 2 hours!! Should finalise the contract next week.

As for poker, I'm not out for the count yet.

No more fast fold. It's time to seek out those fish on the regular tables and get that green line heading the other way...

Tune in tomorrow Smile

Day 6

Finally booking a small win to end the downswing. A sweet little victory. No huge pots but managed to stack a short-stacked whale on my left several times, who was min 3betting any 2. In hindsight I should have played far more aggressive on that table to really take advantage.

Check out the highlights...

Reg tables on Coral might be the best way to go. Plenty of fish, even with only 3 tables running, plus the hud and rakeback make it look like a good choice. We'll see how it goes...

A few bad plays and a couple of coolers. Reg tables still look good though so I'm sticking there.

Highlights below. Back on Twitch tomorrow night.

Day 8 Results

Feeling much better about how I'm playing. There were a couple of big pots I lost that I felt I misplayed. Haven't gone through the hands yet but other than those I think I played well. I'm starting to feel more relaxed while streaming and multi tabling too. And it really helps getting regular viewers, I really appreciate the support, thanks guys.

As for the challenge so far, obviously it hasn't been the best start. But I'm enjoying it and if I can work on the tilt issues I think I can at least beat NL4/5. I'm loving producing content, I know it's piss poor standard but I'm learning as I go. And just maybe someone watching might be able to relate to the struggles of trying to beat the lowest stakes while everyone around you seems to crush them. And also give the rest of you something to laugh at (@daveoWink )

In a month I'm switching jobs which will give me a lot more time due to a reduced commute, so I may start increasing the output in terms of sessions, studying, videos, etc. And I need to start following and supporting more of the other journey blogs on here, I see there's been some new ones recently. PokerVIP is the reason I started playing poker and the support and feedback helps so much, so I should do more in return. I'll read through a lot of the journey threads this week, but if anyone else streams, makes content, YouTube videos, instagram etc let me know so I can follow along.

Until the job change though I'll be aiming for the usual 2 streams per week. I'll be live this Tuesday evening so stop by and say hi. twitch.tv/flashahahhh

Hows the challenge going overall now? Tables starting to turn?

Your content is great flash! I admire the work you put into the videos and everything else, I like the idea of it but never get round to actually 'doing' it, so I commend you for that!

Keep it up mate, and you know you always have a place here at PokerVIP!

Still getting crushed at NL10. I actually spewed off a stack as well this time, so thats not ideal. This guy next to me was doing all the classics, donking out, min bettng, huge random overbets, and then getting there on the river whenever I strapped on a pair to call. Then he got AA and ran a min open, huge 3bet, then insta pot flop line, and I fell for it. Just got fed up with folding and went with OESD and 2 overs. Had some equity but was still a bad, impatient play against an obviously terrible player.

I am still ahead $100 and still have $50 of possible NL10 shot. Might be time to hang it up again though. I really enjoyed the last month, back in the game. But playing weak and low on confidence is not fun. I don't know how to break that mindset though. Its like a scared money thing, but not because the money matters, more the time invested to win it at NL5. I'd think nothing of spending $50 on a few drinks and stuff, but that same $50 in my BR and on my PokerTracker graph is an issue. So its ego driven and not financially driven.

Can't really get around that.

Down about 13 buy ins but I feel like I'm starting to play better and get more value. Hopefully turn things back into an upswing soon...

I sympathise!! Just keep going. At some point you'll take your shot just as the variance gods decide it's your turn for some run good. It'll happen Smile
