When it feels like a nightare, it's just nice to assume the recovery position, breathe nice and slowly - and relax.

Here's the last two days, no pressure honest ... Emo

Got smashed yesterday again but still climbing, just ever so slowly. Games are a badregfest so not going to be a huge winrate anyway.
Think I'll be sussing out a new site before moving up.

Go back to Microgaming. No HUD and no tracking so harder to track results and winrate, but you can do a spreadsheet and estimate hands and winrate or just do an hourly. It is a bit different then when you played but 10NL is still very soft. The regs are a bit more aggro and definitely need to have your preflop game on point versus them. However there are plenty of fish and bad regs. On sunday at 20NL I had a table with me and 5 short stacks all presumably fish or bad regs, I don't think any of them were good short stackers. Yesterday I had this whale at my table at 20nl that was open raising anywhere from 5-21bb. Not every hand but a lot of hands. Would say more than 50%. Had a hand with him where he open raised for 5bb, I had KK and 3b him to 15bb and he called. Can't remember flop JTx rainbow or something. Pot size was around 30-35bb and he donked into me for 50bb. I shoved and he called and had K5o.

When I played party fast forward 10nl it was always just an aggro regfest. I got crushed there quite a bit. Wasn't very enjoyable. The casual tables over there are good and I think some of the reg tables, but didn't see very many fish at the fast fold tables

HI there @fawltyfelix and thanks for popping by!

Yes I agree, FF on party is a regfest and really aggro with it, I'm 4betting all over the place, if I don't I'll get walked over. It's not fun and my winrate is barely positive but I still think that's better than most of them. I find it hard to believe all those regs are sitting around winning much versus each other.

Having said all that, I'm learning how to play in those games and doing ok, so if/when I do move up I'll be more ready for them, just not on here I think.

Also, I would like to go to a site where I can use a hud, my game revolves around the btn and the blinds a lot. For example, my open first in stats are somewhere along the lines of 11/16/26/60/35, mainly because I've had to cut the speculative hands from early positions but people still for all that fold to often in the blinds, odd as it may seem given the aggro nature - and if they 3bet from there a lot just 2.5X 4bet them and they fold all day.

So yes, I agree, time to move on when the roll is enough.

Have fun sir and nice to hear from you again. Handshake

No superman comeback this time.

Have fun peeps, I'm off to empty the wine bottle.

BR was 84.28 after that fiasco so half the roll went last three days. Odds of villains hitting sets felt like evens yesterday - Oh shut up and grow some. Emo

Played a bit today and won a few back and the hill doesn't look quite so steep today.

Might pop a vid up for giggles tomorrow, ezvid's taking the longest time to ready it.

Anyway, gotz a nice 3 ltr bottle of cider just chillin' in the fridge so am ootta here.

Have fun, run good.

Nothing out of the ordinary but I decided to give it this weekend to turn it around and it got worse and worse and ...

So, knocking it on the head for a while, maybe I'll try again if I can get a few dollars but that's unlikely in the short term. Let's face it I've been playing on borrowed time for ages with such a small BR, so I have no moans and my game got quite good to.

Anyway, you lot have a great weekend and maybe I'll be back sooner than I think.

Run good, don't tilt - and have fun! Sun

Well that was a short sabatical, mrs woman gave me her last $12 to get out of her hair and go play, so I added that to my $9 and fired up some $1 Sit 'n' Go Hero thingies.

Lost the first few then hit a couple of nice multipliers and currently standing at $52. Oh and I gotz $10 rakeback coming tomorrow so that'll give me an initial buffer which is always nice.

So let's play a few and see how that goes, I mean, how hard can fold, min raise/fold or shove be ffs. Emo
I'll start at $1 obviously and play 1 at a time for now sine I have no clue, but will need to put a few hours in study first though.

Mal, let's try not to go broke eh?

Have a fun Sunday.

Something weird going on, I get the 404 when I try clicking on 'notifications' and my graph wont insert. Anyone know about this?

Started from the trenches with a more indepth play strat. Put in some silly hours of study, play 5 - 6 standard tables of nl2 on Party and it's a bit like the fastforward regfests only a bit looser preflop and occasionally, just occasionally, you come across a table with not one, but two, really loose passive ones.

Throughly pleased with my progress and I'm playing some nice stuff now, except for the blinds. SB is -27bb and the BB - 39. The latter was good at around -20bb but it may all just be sample size variance as usual. I can fix those now I know how it's done ...

Wont mention the runbad crap, it all comes round to Mal in the end but I'm at -0.40bb after 40K so I could use a few of dem big ones holding up!

No beer or crisps, so bloody drinking chocolate and bickies; sigh, the world has gone tits up.

So anyway, looking to set myself up to another site, this Party one is a regfest nearly all the time with the same old names appearing at 99ooo tables any time of the day. I'm winning but there has to be an easier way!

So I've fired up an old site Betfair and see if I am, or can be, tracked, then withdraw from party and it's orffed we jolly well go init.

My mrs has been in her job for 10 years today and not one unscheduled day off or a minute late and that with walking 1.5 hrs each way in any weather with a bad foot and hip. So, gonna surprise her and take her for a meal on Friday, then it'll be a nice bottle of el plonko and some chocolates for her.
Can't afford it, gonna do it anyway.

Was going to post my 50K sample graph but it doesn't want to play still. Tried drag n drop and browse but no joy. Bah humbug.

How did you get on with Betfair mate?

Interested to see the graph, have you tried using Gyazo?
Posted 7 years ago*
I haven't had a reply on whether I am tracked on betfair or not yet but I've got the site up and running just in case (optimistic as ever Smile )

I haven't used Gyazo but got it downloaded and will give it a go, the sit estuff isn't going good so hopefully Gyazo will help; tyvm AshVIP! Smile

So, really in two minds at the moment peeps, stick with nl micros or drop and go to party SnG Heros. Heros have an ante and are silly variance, which is fine, no problem with variance I understand that; or, stick with the tried and tested nl which is boringly slow but a bit more 'safe' shall we say.

I see @AshVIP is dipping in to the Spins and is no dummy for sure so maybe I'll try that. I bought a cheap spreadsheet for hands etc but not sure still if that's a route I want to take.
I'll pop a few dorrars on and if I think I like the variance and the format I'll give it a go. Maybe I'll get a staking deal and be at 100s before the mighty Ash!

Ye, I know ... I know ... but they're so bad y'know?!

Have a nice weekend.

Can you PM me your Betfair info (Email and username) and I'll chase this up for you today mate!

Maybe worth playing like a 100 25c spins and see how it goes?

The variance is crazy, but like most poker, its about the volume and making the correct decisions and long term you are good! The swings are crazy in spins though but the general population play so bad and don't know how to play short stack poker so this is where the edges are!

Hey @Pwll

I feel a bit guilty as I read through your whole blog this afternoon. Feels like snooping in someones diary...

I really felt with you when I read through your ups and downs of the last months, especially as sooo many questions you posted trouble me as well. I hope you come over to befair and we battle out some hands on NL4 or (hopefully soon) NL10

I am not here to tell you that I know how poker works, but I have a hunch that this might help you as fixing those two helped me sooooo much:

Poker for me has 2 very tricky hands: 1 Pair and sets. I overvalued both of them. I did not give villain enough credit when they 3barreled me and called to much with my TP hands. Sets, especially when the come from a low pairs are dangerous because I stacked off with them day and night. I played them bad and especially going AI on the river makes no sense as only bitter call. I changed my strategy with these hands and improved my game alot. I hope this helps Smile

keep up this the effort and see you at betfair Smile

Posted 7 years ago
@FG_SpaceLord if you read my rubbish this far you deserve a medal buddy! Thanks for helping out btw, I have the suspition most of us micro guys have similar issues so it's all good. Smile Sets are tough to fold but 1-pair isn't on someboards and versus some villains - or as the mighty JonathanVIP would say, it depends! - my default being fold that 3rd barrel versus a reg, they aint bluffing.

Oh and I've read enough of your posts to say, 'Thank you very much but I must decline your kind offer' to battle at nl4 (for now at least), I'd like to keep my (miniscule) bankroll! Nodding

@AshVIP PM'd you and thanks a lot.

I will try 100 x 0.25c of those games and see how it goes, I do know already how bad people are from the few I've dabbled in. Variance and tilt aren't a problem for me, seen most things by now! I'll post up here when I hit the 100.

Have a pleasant Sunday people.

So apparently the stat to look for in these things is 'ChipEV/Tourney' but I couldn't find it in HM2 (fish alert). Not only that but all my tourneys disappeared into the bloody twilight zone, cash results still there though so a bit odd; maybe they'll sort themselves out for me.

Played 75 games so far but not winning, seems shipping anything pretty (and often not so pretty!) for 20+bb and getting there is quite fashionable! Sleepy

So, 25 more to go but playing one at a time to get used to the ranges is a bit meh until it gets HU.
Hopefully get the games results back and be able to post up stats and stuff for them. It's not looking good for my retirement plan though as yet for sure! Emo

Have a good one.
Posted 7 years ago
So anyway, I found a Chips(EV adjusted) stat so maybe that's the one I need, let me know somebody please?

Calculating my EV won so far would then be Chips(EV adjusted)/tourney count
= 3890/50
= 77.8
Which is again apparently not too bad I suppose given 70 chips is considered good but I have no idea why, I'm just cribbing off AshVIP! Giggle

Was going to make a vid of my nl 6 max but it's $18 p.a. for the software. The free trial only allows 15 minutes and I think I made a mess of the OBS so it'll have to wait a bit til I fix it.
Actually if anyone knows how to make OBS record a portion of the screen instead of all of it please again let me know and I'll manage after that.

Ok, off to walk the poo machine. Have fun.
