MilfGrinder: When you see JNandez crushing PLO500 zoom for 14 bb/100 in 200k hand sample, you gotta lean towards learning this game. I'm also in for more PLO content, especially smth that helps with transition from NLHE to PLO.

I love this guys stream! I am not a PLO player at all but this guy is honestly one of the good guys and so enjoyable to watch. Whenever i check twitch and he is not on i get sad. If you want to watch cash games higher than $1/2 he is the only one out there doing it.

Ok, so back in business!!! working with a group of greek pros and just starting out! Started today from plo10 but didn't play much cuz wanted to set the PT properly and was watching JNandez Cheeky
until the end of month will just grind and from the next month hope to set some challenge/goals to make this thread interesting. Will post hands/graphs etc. Will do my best to make this thread enjoyable since this is the best forum on the internet and would love some feedback!!

So like I said starting BR is 250$ will play plo10 on MPN and here is my graph for my first very short session 1st session

Stay tuned Laugh

PLO10 at MPN is pretty nice, as there are so many loose-passive players. May your decisions be good!

Yeah, they are passive and I really hope to crush that stake so I can move on to plo20. Will post my progress here and hope for the best outcome!

I recently started re-learning PLO and I'm definitely going to follow your journey. While PLO - like every other form of poker - got tougher over the years I still feel that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves and, therefore, it's relatively easier to "make it" in this game than it is in hold'em for example. PLO is less developed, more complex and there's more space to gain an edge when it comes to mindset since the game can be really crazy sometimes. Good luck sir and keep us posted!

Ok, sooooo bad news....got an enormous downswing that forces me to play less and study study study cuz in 3 days I lost like 15 BI's..... Angry
Got many coolers in a short period of time will show a couple
cooler#1
cooler#2
and cooler#3

Of course had some bad plays too (still learning) but the main problem as I found was that I was trying a LAG style since I can put other players on ranges fast and I have practiced that a lot so I know where I stand in a hand usually but the problem like I said is that I couldn't get out of a hand when I;m on a medium draw or have a marginal hand. So I have to do something with that EGO.
Will switch to TAG for now and will try to play my ABC poker hoping to get my BI's back and make more so I can move to plo20. With my backer we use an aggro approach 25BI rule at each level and when got 45BI's get a shot at next. So now normaly I would have to play plo4 but we agreed that there is no point wasting time there and he will reloaded the account so I can keep going at plo10 from the Dec 1st when we officially start our stake programm.

So'll just grind these couple days until the end of month with what's left at the account and will start fresh Next month were I'll start a new graph and hope to update daily this blog where I'll share all my results.

Next post will upload few pics as well......like my view when I grind (it's beautiful) a pic of me etc. just to keep the post colorful Laugh

Well, 15BI isn't really enormous by PLO standards, but losing is never fun. While there's a lot of merit in aggressive bankroll management in small stakes PLO it's not only about the risk of ruin, but also peace of mind so make sure those 25 buy-ins allow you to play your A-game.

Not a huge downswing buy ins wise but a bit dent to a lot of peoples bankrolls.

Over what time period were these buy ins lost in? If it was a day then yeh you have a problem which may need looking at.

Also the number is not the important thing but more if you was playing correctly.

Looking forward to the pics Smile

3 days period. But the good thing is that yesterday was a +6 BI's. Will have a coaching session tomorrow and as it's the 1st of Dec will also start playing ''officially'' so will post graphs and stuff from my ''journey'' to PLO Glory from tomorrow!! Laugh

15bin loss fells in to category of "can't avoid". But as said, the number itself is not important, the path to the number is. You can lose 15bin while playing perfect poker, or you can lose 15bin because of bad decisions. Period of time is often not so important, as some play 300 hands per day and some 3000 or more. Often after a big downswing it's good to check stuff after a day or two from the session:

- Check biggest losing pots, is there anything you would do otherwise?
- Check medium sized lost pots, is there anything you would do otherwise?
- Filter the downswing and check your overall preflop stats. Any difference in VPIP/PFR/3bet? In postflop aggression? If yes, then ask yourself "why?".

Common thing is to think right after the session that it didn't affect your playing, but then afterwards you find out that your VPIP/PFR/3Bet are signifantly more than normal.

Ok so started yesterday.....didn't gone well though, the session was a disaster!! Angry as you can see the graph
Had a couple of coolers again and even though they shouldn't effect my game......well....they did will just show one cuz there is no point in showing those, they are part of the game and I must accept it. Anyway, cooler#1 the guy just called for a gutter and no FD I mean....wtf?!?! Puke
The rest of the session didn't gone well and I was feeling more like a donk
Today I won't play. Will review some hands and study some theory (hot/cold equity and trying to learn finding the edge in stats of a HUD) My coach told me that he didn't see any major leaks for my level except the tilt factor that brings my C-game and some tricky spots with marginal holdings.

A hand I was wondering if played right was this should I just call his 1.3 raise and see the turn or go all in like I did, I ask only because first I didn't had the nut FD and we were like 200bbs deep. Any thoughts??
And the other one was this I block the Q's for the set but since we were 180bbs deep I think I should go x/c the flop and not 4bet shove with just top pair+fd. I know his call was bad with top/bottom pair+gutter and 4high fd cuz we were deep. Any thoughts here??
Hope will get improved as soon as I can and beat the plo10 so I can go to the next level.

Anyway so here are the pics a promised: When I get on tilt a walk with my beloved dog Baron always relax's me plus when you got a view like this when you grind it always helps Laugh
And here is a pic of me&wife from yesterday walk on the beach.

Stay tuned for more Wink

I do after the sessions and while I don't see a big difference in VPIP/PFR/3BET stats I see that I have many many small loosing pots which might be an indication that I get myself in flops 1st out of position and I have to fold too often and 2nd I think I play too many marginal hands OOP hands like AJ84ss or KJJ8ss and stuff like this.

Trying to improve though Wink

Ok, sorry for not updating but had lot's of work to do at home since holidays are almost here! So got to play only like 3k+ hands. The good news are that I'm doing well and the stuff that I study work on my game. Still trying to avoid situations like this Many times I got a good draw on turn and even when the villain bets pot I still call with that kind of draws while I shouldn't!
AND my biggest problem are the SB and BB.....I suck at those positions and almost all my losses are from there as you can see here
Need to work on that more.

Anyway this is the graph of my last session
Hope will continue that upswing so that I can reach the milestone for a shot at plo20.

Posted 8 years ago
Graph looks solid and yeh good luck hitting that milestone! Moving up is always a great feeling and gets some fire back in our bellies Smile

What win rates are good for sb and bb for PLO players?
Posted 8 years ago
As far as I know, when I asked several midstakes regs, something like -20-25bb/100 on SB and -30-35bb/100 on BB are the best they could get in the long run. As far as SB is less than -50bb/100 (or -40bb/100 at some stakes) and BB is less than -100bb/100 it's a good starting point. Smile
Posted 8 years ago
Yeah BB is fine I think too but the SB should go to more like 30. I found myself many times calling a UTG raise when I'm on SB with KK73ss or AQ79ss hands. I think they are not worth it since hands like that have more Steal Equity than Showdown Equity and OOP I usually have to fold and that's loosing money Sad

Also another problem that I found and that's mostly emotional is that When I get to the river with a marginal hand that has some value and I bet when I get reraised and I call cuz I'm thinking something like ''Oh no, that pot is mine and he tries to bluff me out of it!!'' What an idiot I am......saw some of those hands and felt a complete Donk/idiot/fish you name it. Worried
So I should work on that Bet/Fold move cuz at microstakes it's never a bluff when you get reraised on the river, THEY HAVE IT!!

Anyway, hope to fix those leaks as soon as I can. Also started to read for 2nd time the new book of Mastering Pot Limit Omaha The Modern Aggressive Approach. It's a great book and the first time I just quickly read it but there are many interesting stuff that I need to re-establish.

No graph for now cuz didn't play but Friday is here + Weekend so lot's of time for grinding!! Laugh

At micros you can pretty much always assume that river raise is for value. River bet can be a bluff, but raise is a different thing.
Posted 8 years ago
Sorry guys for lack of PLO content lately, I have been sick for couple of weeks now. Working on a video about liveplay at micros, to show some things to think about. Anyone else thinkin about making 2016 a year of PLO? Smile
Posted 8 years ago
I'm tempted to do just that. Not sure how much time I'll have with many other endeavours competing for my attention, but I really like the game and I think it's still just as attractive as it was 2-3 years ago.
Posted 8 years ago
i think i will play PLO again. getting back to poker after a decent break..searching for a room and dont know if i want to start nl5 or nl10 but deffo will deposit 40bi for start.
