Haha yeh that meme sums up that situation perfectly....What on earth was you thinking bro! Them fish never fold.

Good luck getting your computer sorted, literally nothing worse man.

As for 4 tabling imo this is the future and think 4-6 is perfect especially on a site like Unibet where you have to manually top up and the software isn't as smooth as elsewhere.

It just seemed like the perfect bluff opertunity lol lesson learnt.

Apple said they will fix my laptop for free. It's the hard drive that's fuck and it should be back with me in a couple of days Smile

I don't like the table layout for UniBet. Te tables have to overlap, but I'm still getting used to it. I might make a move to party poker when I hit my €300 mile stone
Posted 9 years ago
This happens at least 5 times a session, It got to me today because I was card dead for a long time and when I finally get one!! Has this been happening to anyone else on UniBet or is it just this piece of shit of a laptop?!?

I was sat out both times when it finally reconnected. No more poker for me tonight, laptop is ready for collection tomorrow so will wait till then!

Oh yes. I failed in my attempt to triple barrel a fish off medium pair no kicker last night. Laugh

I got my MAC back today but sadly found out the internet disconnections are actually my Sky hub. Doing a lot of google searches to figure out how to resolve the problem. I'll hopefully get it fixed because there is nothing more annoying than being disconnected in the middle of a hand!!

Attached Image

Poker
I was running pretty good before the disconnections, I was making some good folds (except one, which was the very first hand). I'm annoyingly just over break even since getting off work. Volume is quite low so I can't complain too much.

A funny hand I played, it was only the second hand at the table so no reads, 100bb effective:

Hero BTN - JJ raised to 0.25
SB: raise to 0.85
Hero: raise to 2.50
SB: goes all in

I very nearly folded at this point because I had no reads, but i decided SB v button is ok to call.

Hero: calls
SB: show 62

This is usually a spot where I get outdrawn and a 2 did hit the flop, but I held Laugh

This is my last week at home, I go back to work on Tuesday so I best make the most of it!! I've got no plans for the week so I've got no excuses!!

I would 100% recommend UniBet, just to have and mess around on. The problems with it are it's Tailored for recreational players. No auto top up, no HUD, no table selection, you can change your alias up to 5 times a day, no note taking. After a while you do get used to it all, but I'm going to move from it as it's hard to review sessions after. I'll just keep it to play tourneys now and then.

The good points with it are, the player pool is very VERY soft, the software is cool, good traffic, they have a point system which gives me free SnG and tourney tickets, and sometimes they just give you money.

Have you checked out Keith's BR challenge on here? He turned the free €10 you get for singing up in to hundreds. Might be worth trying.

I was reading through the Sky forums and this has happened to a few people. Some have got a new hub which has worked, others have had to get engineers out. I may just sit an wait and just hope it fixes itself Cool

My poker goals are more like milestones at the moment, taking it in stages. But what I would like at the end is to be playing 100NL regularly, and I don't really care how long it takes (unless in 5 years time I'm still at 10NL) Laugh

What are your goals, if you continue to play?

Get a new HUB bro simple as that. Also get them to run tests on the lines near your area but generally your HUB will just have overheated or be filled with dust. Real quick fix generally.

At least you know where the problem is now tho!

Thats a good target, 100nl would be nice side money for the majority of people.

Just to find a way to manage myself better. Need to spend a lot of time of my mental game as its too difficult to play poker and be how i am. My determination is too much and is actually damaging my game i think. I think i will return because i want to achieve something in poker and not quit when iv failed but i need to think of a plan of what to do when i do return.

I had a few days off, family stuff. Started playing again last night and it was a very weird one. I started off going 200BB up after a few hands, only to lose it, then get it back again, and lose it, finished the session 130bb down. I'll post some hands, I'm sure one was a bad call, others were coolers.

hand 1
I had a hand where I opened QQ from MP and Co shoves for 88bb, I call hand he shows K8o and I turned quads Laugh

Attached Image

hand 2

Hero - 88

Botton: opens 0.30
hero (sb): calls
bb: calls

flop
pot (.95)
748

Hero: bets 0.67
BB: calls
Button: goes all-in for 12.13
Hero: calls 12.13
BB: calls 7.84

turn
A

river
Q

Hero shows 88 for three of a kind
BB shows Q2 for a pair of queens
Button show 56 for a straight and wins $32.67

I don't think there was any getting away from that one.

hand 3

This was a weird one, where I flopped trip aces on a AA7 flop with A4o and I bet $1.20 in to $2 and villain raises to $5.70, I was confused but thought he wouldn't do this with an ace, only 77 so I shoved the remaining $8.90, so it was $3.20 for him to call but he folded Laugh Not sure if that was good or bad.

Attached Image

Hand 4 I have added to the line check thread, i was a terrible run out and I would live any feedback on it.

Hand 5 This is a hand I feel I played wrong.

Hand 6

I was in the SB with 75 and decided to 3bet a loose button opener, trying to take it down straight away. Villains calls.

flop 275

Villains bets, I raise and he shoves. This is always a difficult spot for me as I think he has the A with no other spade. I called and He showed 910. Not sure if thats an easy fold?

Other

I've also been playing some SnG but they've not been going to well, i've not taken one down in a while and its cost me a bit. It's annoying because they are very soft, but I might stop them for now. Cash games I'm up, but over all I'm down.

Attached Image

Not massive loses but still disappointing. Volume hasn't been great this time off, and I don't think I'll be able to play until I'm back next month. At least Ill have my laptop with me this time so I can go over hands and study easier.

Bought this book (pdf) today as I was having poker withdrawal syndrome while being at work.

Its had great reviews and is so far so good!

Down to single figures out here in the North sea, only 9 days left!! I was thinking of either starting a new thread where I try get fit and healthy or I'll just add it to this one. I see Jon and Matt have these and it got me thinking. I'm kind of in the opposite situation tho, I'm a skinny fucker and need to bulk up Muscle

At work, I sleep on deck 7, work on deck 3 and there is a gym on deck 5 which I rarely visit. I'm stuck on here for a month at a time and have 12 hours everyday to myself, so I have no excuses. I also have a month at home where I never see a gym so I really have no excuses!! I have to eat what is put in front of me, and its never a healthy option. There is of course the option of salad but they're shite!! I can't drink alcohol which out here which is a good thing, But I make up for it on my month off!! Beer

I don't think my diet will change, but I will be going to the gym more! I'll also update on that book;

GL at the tables!

There is a guy onboard the ship who has a €4,500 drone with a camera, so the captain asked if he could take a photo of the crew standing on the helipad! I thought the photos were pretty cool!

Its a little difficult to see us standing at the front, but the rest is cool.
Posted 9 years ago
Holy shit that is awesome! What an incredible picture. So he was just powering a drone all around the ship snapping pics?

Are drones always around the 4500 mark or is this one quite a pro one? Couldn't imagine losing it out at sea!
Posted 9 years ago
Sorry to Hijack, but ya, that's an expensive drone for sure! I think the one's that capture image's of surfers are way less expensive, super cheap one's go for US $100.00ish bucks. Ur buddy must be #Ballin to buy something that Cray! Great shot's though Barra!

He had a remote control which was attached to a mini iPad. He could either control it himself (difficult) or put in the GPS position and it would go straight there. If there are any problems like the battery dying it then lands where it took off. It's a very clever thing.

The camera on the bottom could swivel around an by the looks of the pics, was a good camera.

The guy is a proffesional photographer and specialises in offshore stuff, so he needs these kinds of things to stay ahead of the competition.

As Nolan said, there are much cheaper ones on the market, this was just a very fancy one.
I'll try get a pic of it because it was even cool to see.

That looks like a very smart dinjee thing and a very pro drone! But pipe thingies sticking out one side? Tidy up bro for goodness sake!

Looks like a cool place to be to me, I just love the sea! So jelly! Heart

I read most of this, so have you made progress on the ego issue? I was told a good way to leave the ego at home when playing was to try to drop the 'feel' and think like a math geek and play by numbers for a while, especially on anon tables and suchlike. Apparently it helps make you feel in control, like a cyborg lol.

Run good.

haha the pipes have now been hammered in to the sea bed, so no more untidiness.....until Saturday when we collect another 4.

The sea is ok, but we've been out here for 10 days, so it can get boring!

I have managed to remove most of the ego by simply believing the other players when they bet! No more - 4bet bluff because he 3bet me last hand - kind of stuff. I will need to try this numbers technique. What I am also trying is an exploitive strategy, which is working really well. This works best on UniBet because there are no HUDs.

Gl at the tables, and getting signed up to the staking. Its a good group to be a part of!

Glad to hear it sir, sounds like you're well on the way.

I just got conformation today about the staking group so quite excited today! Smile

You need a very long fishing rod for the boring bits.
