Finally Back! Can we start Beastin' Betsafe?

Posted 7 years agoEdited 7 years ago

Hey there all!

After a good amount of time, I finally have been able to get going again. My poker money is my poker money and I'll see how far I can take it.

My general life situation is much more stable than it was last year with new job working in a cool real ale pub. The people who run the place are basically like an aunt and uncle and I enjoy it a lot, such a chilled vibe and most people I see are really nice. Got my band booked up for the year along with the teaching. Also the other half and some others manage to get me a new guitar for my 30th which was completely unexpected and awesome!

So really just going to do my best and grab life by the horns now. Motivated for poker too. Mainly I want to make sure I keep it fun as well as doing my best to improve along the way.

I made an initial deposit of 95e and decided I'd start at 4nl using good BR management from here on out. I'm in no rush to move up, and that will only give the risk of messing things up.
At the time of writing this first thread post I've upped it to 109.57e which is a good start when trying to get things going.

Seen a few soft games so far and I'm definitely a much better player than I was this time last year. So let's hold back on those hero calls and make this a great new start!

Welcome to this part of the site mate.

Not thought about moving up yet, 140e is big enough to play 5nl (28bi) or at least to take a few shots.

Hey @Harvie I norrmally play 4nl here, they had just dried up at the time I was playing after work. I started at 4nl from day one.

Odd there are usually enough games at the micros, thought about giving another network a try or splitting the BR to ensure you always have enough game options?

There's usually enough games running, it's just if I play after 2am here then they starts to go. I think it was just a quiet day for some reason. But the games have been soft enough at least.

Blaze is a huge pain in the arse as it only really runs when they have the blazing cannon promos.

MPN are kinda turning into iPoker with being slow and useless with the software updates and promos.

If they just ran the promo more often, tweaked the software or just did something to make people happy to play it would be epic!

Glad you're crushing.

I have always said this! Fast fold games are a huge money spinner for rooms due to the enormous rake from so many hands being played so it just doesn't make any sense! Even if they offered increased rake back on blaze they would still make a small fortune if they ran around the clock! These rooms only have themselves to blame for Stars having such a monopoly!

@Grocker6 Nice journey thread. I feel like your approach of playing poker on the side is the most sensible thing for most people nowadays. A few years ago it was possible to become a poker pro basically from the get-go provided that you had enough free time and motivation. Nowadays it's still possible, but nowhere near as easy and therefore going the hobbyist/semi-pro route is the way to go.

What was the guitar that you got for your birthday? I used to play the ol' six strings on a piece of wood back in the day and while I don't do it anymore I'm still kinda interested in gear.

Well, that's been 2 weeks without internet at my house. Maybe I can get back to the grind at some point. But not tonight or tomorrow, busy.

The guitar I got was a Les Paul. Another one for gigging as a back up for the other one. Although it might become my regular main guitar...

Just saw this big guy, I hope you have a fun time with the game at last.

I had a Fender Strat for a while many moons ago. I was going to try hard to play 'proper-like' but gave it away to someone with some talent instead.

gl with that internet and with the journey buddy. Handshake

With Les Paul's, boxing and sex it's always very important to protect the head!

I hope you'll sort out your internet issues soon and I'm looking forward to regular updates. Good luck!

My internet is actually back, just came back before writing my last post.

Now it's just about getting time to play. Which I will do, gotta work this evening though so that sucks but hey, maybe tomorrow in the day.

Right so an update...

Before my internet went down. I took out my money from BetSafe. Just in case I need any extra for some emergency and couldn't access internet.

In the mean the my girlfriend made an account on Sky Poker, and I sat with her playing it and saw how truly soft the games are, even with the high rake, it's still so crazy and the poor opponents wayyyy more than make up for the rake.

I had an account which I'm pretty sure I made through PokerVIP over a year ago but didn't deposit because I ended up doing the staking and such.
But I deposited a few days back.

I deposited £90. I didn't bother putting in the extra from winnings I made at BetSafe.
I played a session of cash and made a buyin a the £4 games. Then played a 2.20 touney. It was a deep stack slower blind level one. 94 players entered and I came 2nd (not a bad result for my first tourney I've played in a while), so that banked me a profit of about £35 on the first day.

I played some cash in the couple of days after and ran super bad and lost a couple of buyins, lots of suck outs and all that jazz.
And today played and made a £16 profit.

Of course all at 4nl right now.

Bankroll up to £133.70 which is almost a 50% increase already. Hope to keep it up and have tons of fun at these cash games.

I may post a video as well about my time so far, so stay tuned.

Hey again, quick update before I have a long weekend of work ahead of me (which means I won't get much poker time).

I played a couple of small sessions and the games still surprise me. I find myself talking out loud to the screen in disbelief at what I constantly see at these tables!

That of course is a good thing for me. Maybe it really is the fact that there's no HUDs here that keep a lot of regs away? But even so, I'm still amazed. I'm perfectly comfortable playing without a HUD though so it's just kinda awesome.

Any on to the BR, currently sitting at £146.71 now.

So the last 24 hours have seen a decent +7bi or so. Don't think I'll be updating over the weekend at all because as I've said, I'll be working a lot. But actually finding that for me at least, having the time away from the game and then playing with a fresh mind every time actually helps me I think. Not everyone is like that but it's gonna be a case of me having spurts of time, a few days in a row or so where I can play, then a couple where I can't and then the same again. Not every week is the same for me work-wise though. But anyhow, I'll be back in a few days hopefully with more to say...

Gl all.

huds wont make a lot of difference at sky, it's just fun. Oh and if it doesn't mnake any senseon the river, just call and move on Smile

gl buddy and have fun.

Thanks Mal. Yes Sky is fun, there's lots of bad recreationals that you see again and again, and also what seems like an endless supply of new ones appearing all of the time. I'm gonna have me some fun that's for sure!

When Sky Poker first got started I remember I doubled my bankroll in under a week thought it would have regged out a little bit now guess not. You should also take a look at some MTTs on that site, they are very very soft.

Yo just realized I missed your PM...was it all cleared up?

Keep crushing bro and I might come and hop in some of the games and create a new vid series on there! Or could even send @Spraggy over to do so!
