After about 7 months the poker bug finally caught up with me and now with time on my hands and extra income I decided that to get myself prepared to play more live poker in the future I would jump back in and play 4nl on Microgaming... Just to keep my mind poker fit...No plans to grind just for fun....

I sat down at a 4nl table and felt immediately bored so decided to drop another £100 and start with 20bi's for 10nl

Just for fun... No grinding... No BR goals....

@Harvie Started with 4 and that snowballed to 6 then 8 and finally 10 :') I will probably play between 6 and 10 for now above that I find i begin sitting out lol. Currently working night shifts just stacking shelves while I put my attention into my other projects, once they pay the bills and some I'll leave my job and focus on that and poker

@Pwll Thanks! I honestly can't believe how soft 10nl is, like sure I have HAD to have won 18 buyins in 6k hands but it doesn't feel like I'm making the nuts every hand, just a LOT of fish and regs who suck ass..... will likely get smashed my next session for saying that lol

Sounds good, I'd just advise to keep the tables to like 4-5 and move up faster than mass table (I think anything above 6 is mass tabling now, call me old!).

Why Harv?

Considering I've only played 4 days so far I'm really happy to get 8k hands in already and when looking at the time I have I should be able to easily smash 40k hands.

The question is when to take shots & move up now. I have 20bi for 20nl and given I want to move up asap I think I will begin shot taking this week. 50nl shots will be around 20bi also although there I will give myself a tighter stop loss.

I think you'll be fine taking a shot with 20BI frankly, it's not as if you're a bad reg is it. (rhetorical), so even if a (say) 5BI stab goes tits up, 15BI at nl10 is enough for a player of your calibre imo.

I'm playing nl5 fastfold with 6BI personally but that's another story

When it comes to bankroll considerations, given that you have experience playing higher and you don't rely on poker to pay the bills I'm a big fan of aggressive bankroll management strategy. That being said, when I say aggressive I mean both moving up and moving down. For example. if you start your shoot with only 20bi you should move down after losing 5 or so, that way you have a nice cushion of 30 or so buy-ins on the lower level still in left and you only need to grind 10 buy-ins on a lower limit to take the shoot again.

Yeah completely agree! leaving myself 30bi for 10nl I think is ideal, I will bleed in 20nl form now on, if I'm playing my best and feeling good I will add in 20nl tables, bring it on

I find the more tables players sit at the less optimal they play, I think playing 4-5 is the optimal amount at the micros to move up and improve one's game. Each person is different I guess but whenever I played 6+ my game was hardly improving and was I playing like robot and not really thinking about past hands because so many new hands were coming up.

I agree, but I'm not looking to improve my game much at the moment, I was beating 50nl 6 months ago and feel I'm beating 10nl and want to move up ASAP. I will for the most part stick to 6 tables especially when taking shots, but pushing up to 8-10 is fine at 10nl I think

ah, if you were beating 50nl 6 months ago then rock on with more tables as you'll be there again in no time.

Anything more than 2 tables of rush is way too fast for me, guess I been out the game too long.
