MAKE IT or GO BROKE?! (STARS)

Posted 8 years ago

Hey there,

As the title of the thread says, I'll play with my bankroll until one of the 2 options mentioned come true:
1. MAKE IT (be a winning player at NL50 standard FR tables) Cool
2. GO BROKE (we all know what that means) Smile

In the last few weeks I played on UNIBET and 888 but with not that great results. Both poker platforms had pros and cons but in the end STARS is the best place to be right now. So I just deposited on STARS and received an extra 5 tourney tickets for (bingo) beat the clock. I somehow managed to win one for $4.50 and another one in 5th position for $3.30 and made my bankroll a little bit larger.

My current bankroll is at $223 which is enough for NL5.

Anyway, there is no NL2 for Romanians on STARS so even if I want, I can't play lower than NL5. Smile

I'll try to keep this blog as interesting as possible. I'll post hands for reviews, stats and even videos with the sessions that I play.

Regarding the gameplan, this is what I have in mind:
1. play at maximum 12 tables at a time.
2. move up in limits after reaching 30 buy ins for the upper limit.
3. shot at the new limit for 5 buy ins.
4. stop loss for the day at 5 buy ins.
5. color code players and make notes as often as I can.
6. abuse autoprofit spots.
7. play very tight from early positions and very loose from late ones.
8. table select (if there's no fish at the table, is just a waste of time)

The next update will be after I reach 10k hands. I have 0 so far. Laugh
Good luck all! Smile

PS: I'll be playing at NL5 standard full ring tables.

Gl @Balonas , seems like you're doing a similar thing to me.

I'd say see you at the tables but A) I try to keep to the "good" tables Smirking
and B ) You play FR and I play 6 max.

How come you play FR over 6 max? Do you just have a better game plan for those games with your strategy? Or do you think they are generally more profitable? Interesting because not too many are playing them these days I think.

I'll be following this journey!

Oh wow welcome back and good luck! I like the objective Smile

Thank you both for the comments! Smile

@Grocker6 In my opinion FR tables are softer than 6 max ones.

I just played my first session but unfortunately HM2 didn't went as planned and registered only my last 76 hands or so.
It was a funny session since my very first hand was a cooler KK(me in BB) vs AA (villain in SB), after that nothing interesting at all, and at the end, when I was closing the tables, I flopped a midle set and lost another buy in versus top set. Lucky me! Smile

To sum it up I am almost brake even for today. Smile

I hope for further interesting sessions! Smile

I played another session today but HM2 didn't work again. Sad
I created a new hh folder on STARS so I hope that it will work on my nex session.

It is very annoying when I have no clue about the villains and I have to play a little bit of guessing game, Anyway, today I managed to finish the session with a profit of $3 or so.

It was a mix of decent play and some bad play here and there especially against short stacks. I still have those moments in which my mind says "Oh, it is only 2$, fuck it, let's gamble, let's see what he has!!!".

With a little bit of discipline I will get rid of this habit. Smile
Good luck all!

PS: I'll try to record a session and post it here on my blog.

Hah, I just thought that I run better at the tables, but unfortunately I didn't make any profit so far.
I played almost 2.800 hands since my last update, started nice with almost 2.5 buy ins up but after that all that money slowly vanished from my account. Smile

My SB game sucks big time so far. I need to improve that ASAP.
I haven't recorded any session so far since I don't really know what program is good for that. If you have any suggestions feel free to post it here. (free software).
I'll probably update this blog again tomorrow evening. Smile
Good luck all!

I use OBS for my recordings which is great. I know in my last video I was a little quiet but it was mainly because I had to talk quietly and I could do with a better mic tbh. But the software is pretty much what most people use and for good reason.

Good luck!

Thank you @Grocker6 ! Smile
I recorded one session of 30 minutes of zoom NL5 and I was so happy that I had some interesting spots but unfortunately the video didn't came out as I had hoped. It has some sort of lag (freeze), maybe because my computer is not that good anymore and I chose 60 fps instead of leaving it at 30 fps. I'll have to try another one with other settings to see how it goes.

I was using HM2 while playing but the HUD doesn't appear in the video? What do I have to do to show up in the video too?

Thanks!

Maybe you were using it to record a game window as opposed to just recording a section of your screen.

Best to use 'Monitor Capture' and pick your area to record and then make sure it's sized properly by previewing it.
If you still have any issues then I can at least screenshot some of my settings that work for me and post them here.

Hah that river Jack on the last hand... Broken heart
Posted 7 years ago
I am using Display Capture and this time, after lowering the FPS to 30, it worked.
I still can't make the HUD to appear in the video. How do you do that?

Thanks!
Posted 7 years ago
I think sometimes a HUD just doesn't always show up in screen capture software for some reason. There may be a setting somewhere to change that so you'll have to have a look around.
Posted 7 years ago
Yeh i know a lot of people do this on Twitch - maybe @MattVIP knows?
Posted 7 years ago
I don't have OBS installed but I can vaguely remember that there's an option called "capture overlaying windows" (or something similar). Right click on "monitor" or "display" capture and it should be there.

Here it is, my first video of NL5 Zoom on STARS that came out right. I still have to play with the settings of OBS and try to make a 1920x1080 video next time and HM2 to appear on the tables.

I have to worn you that I don't play that good and in this first video there is no voice on it, just some music which you can turn it off and listen to what you like. The length of the video is of almost 40 minute.

I played on 4 tables at a time but I don't think that it is that hard to follow the action. If you want to take a look and comment any hand feel free to click on the video posted below.

The next video will be shorter and with voice on... hope it works. Smile

Good luck!

Gonna watch the vid tonight and make some notes if you like.

Looks like you are playing 6 max after all then?
Posted 7 years ago*
Sure @Grocker6 , I'd love to see some feedback, notes, questions, suggestions etc. Smile
I'm playing some 6 max ZOOM for a couple of days. I'm not touching the normal tables since you are there to fish. Smile

Good luck!
Posted 7 years ago
Hah, well they are better IMO. I'm not really a mass tabler though. Just 4 tables does me good to enjoy the game and make a bit.
Posted 7 years ago
Skimmed over it and would say

- stop betting really bad rivers it's just way too thin and can be used as a bluff catcher
- Cbet higher % of pot
- Value bet higher % of pot

Rest of it wp

Hello, hello! Smile

I took a break for a couple of days but now I'm back very motivated. Today I managed to make a small 8 minutes movie of me playing ZOOM NL5 and it all came out nice, with HM2 on the tables. I really don't know what happened after this small session because I went to record an half an hour session but stats don't show up again. Sad

Hopefully the next video will be crystal clear. Smile
Anyway, here is my fresh second video of around half an hour of play of ZOOM NL5 on PokerStars.

This video is like the first one, with 4 tables at a time and music on. There are no comments on it, but I hope that I'll still get some feedback.

@Jon-PokerVIP I tried to use your advices, and I think that I did ok overall.
- stop betting really bad rivers it's just way too thin and can be used as a bluff catcher
- Cbet higher % of pot
- Value bet higher % of pot

I have troubles in 3bet pots but I'll try to figure it out. My bankroll is up to around $255 but with the help of 1.000 starcoins ($10 bought after the session).

I will continue to post videos with my progress and to constantly improve the content of them.
Good luck all! Smile

Nice work buddy! Will comeback later to check the video!
