5NL - TT (ISO spot)

Posted 8 years ago

Anon. We ISO OOP here and face this flop. Should we rep this board and cbet or take a c/c line? I played around with Flopzilla and some wide and narrow limp-call ranges - both ranges don't hit this flop particularly hard. When I start adding some weaker draws, it creeps over into 40%ish.

Pretty dry board and you block QT KT , id go for a check call line on the flop and play it from there. Keep all his air in and pick up a bluff later on in the hand and if he checks just bet turn like 1/3 pot to get value from all his worse pairs 9x 5x and pp's and draws like 67 87.

I think you'll never (or 'almost never') getting three streets of value here and check/calling second pair type hands is good for your range so that's my gameplan. Plus, you can start comfortably vbetting most turn cards when checked to.

I'd go for a check as well. It's unlikely you can get more than one street of value by betting yourself if you cbet the flop, especially when you block some of the draws that continue. By checking the flop you also keep his range as wide as possible compared to taking a flop cbet and then check line which is very beneficial for you.

I'd also expect the average 5nl player to not be aggressive enough to triple barrel you when checked to so if you check flop and face a ton of action I think you can comfortably fold.
