So basically, I never really know how I should play these kind of hands. I am like a dog that chase a car but when the car stops and he catches it it doesn't know what to do. Maybe I should've done a check raise on the turn?

You played the hand fine. Turn bet is good to get value from draws, Ax and Jx hands. Too bad they didn't have anything, I don't really like check raising because we give them a free card.

Yeah I kind of tought the same, thanks for the review.

So top set is of course the nuts here and anytime you have the nuts you want to be able to get all the money in by the river. Because of that I don't like slowplaying these types of hands too often. On this flop, even though you have lots of the aces it's still really easy for your opponent to continue since this will hit all his broadway hands.

If you do decide to check then I think checking the turn should also be part of your plan to get the most out of your opponents bluffs. I don't like this as much because 2nl players are typically pretty passive. The x/c flop lead turn line, although a bit rare is basically never a bluff so I think it's easy for opponents to just fold. The board also hasn't really changed since the flop so if you want to lead the turn then logically you should want to lead the flop.

I think checking with top set at nl2 is a bit fancy and we should just be trying to get as much money in the middle as we can as quickly as we can. If our opponent has nothing that can continue with then so beit but I'd be betting three streets here.

Here's the thing. Since you're blocking so many hands in villain's calling range by flopping the top set (there's only one ace left in the pot which dramatically decreases the amount of combinations of top pair and top two that villain has) it's only natural that you won't get much action. This doesn't change the fact that vs. your standard, overly passive NL2 opponent betting is still the way to go. The absolutely worse thing you can do here is failing to extract value in one of those few situations when the villain has a decent hand and passive player won't exactly help you to build the pot even with relatively strong parts of his range.

Because you're a bit deep I would make it bigger pre, more like 24c.

Again because of stack depth I'm not a fan of checking. We want to be able to bet big on all streets as plenty of 2NL players will call down with Ax. Also the deeper stacks get the more combos of draws will appear in villain's range so free cards become that little more dangerous to give.

Keeping it simple at 2NL will help you stay out of trouble and decrease the chance of missing value by taking a fancy line which might not work as well as you might think.

@Turlock I see, I think you are right, I think I lose a lot of money by either not getting enough value or doing these kind of checks.
