NL10 flopraise as bluff with pair.

Posted 7 years ago

So pre i call since i think we have decent implied odds with a fish in the blinds and i think the opener is a weaker player.

Given villains flop sizing i think he is often weak here, i dont think ppl at NL10 size their bets after the board rather than the strength of their hand. I think we can be good here with a 6 still, we have backdoor straight draw possibilities and we can easily rep sets, twopairs here. So i decide to turn my 56s into a bluff here since it will be hard for us to call vs further action.

I'm not really a fan of it as I think we had the best hand and both players folded junk. If called we're almost certainly behind. Would like the raise more if there was a diamond on the flop. I would be folding 56 pre flop too, just think it's a little loose to call even with a fish in the blinds.

Fish has 30bb, I'd want to call with AJ or something so I can get the chips in when we flop top pair, playing 56s vs a 30bb stack is not going to be ev+ yet.

I don't mind the call pre. It's far from mandatory and we could consider 3betting sometimes but if the blinds are weak players, I like calling best.

Post flop, I don't like the raise at all. We have a clear call. We can improve our absolute hand strength and improve to some decent draws on lots of turns and critically, I don't think we get any folds at all from better hands.

On boards that are pretty dry like this, I don't have much of a raising range. I wouldn't raise sets very often in this spot and there aren't many draws I could have.

I guess your raise protects your hand and makes your opponents fold some equity but I don't think that's a good trade off against the times our raise doesn't get through against better hands.

Think this is too loose. Both opponents are probably weaker types, what do we do to stop ourselves feeling a bit silly if P6 ships their 30bb at us?

I can agree to a certain extent about hand holdings and boards etc but versus to weak opponents we don't generate the necessary folds enough times, which is our intention in this scenario yes?

I'd make the easy call flop play and see what the turn action brought me.
