20NL ATo 3bet pot OOP

Posted 8 years ago

Hey guys,

Got a hand this morning and I felt pretty lost on this flop. I decided to 3bet pre, which I think is fine. Flop made me feel quite awkward and I'm not sure how to proceed. I don't like cbetting a lot because we can't really get value from anything. Check/folding seems to weak IMO. Check/calling is awkward aswell because he can fire a ton of turns and we're still going to be really uncertain. Villian seems like a standard Reg, don't have any specific reads.

After checking the flop I think folding is going to be the best play read less. Too many bad turns and if they fire again we're going to give up. Basically it's going to be hard to win this hand after checking the flop.

Think this is a straight forward check call as the reason to check is to control the pot and induce i guess so stick with the plan.

It's a tough one but maybe firing out similar to his bet size is best to stop yourself getting bluffed off your hand and possibly fold out the smaller pairs that could do that (some are prone to set mining too much). Though I have to admit it's never a straight forward situation here as there doesn't seem any great option.
I get we can check/call to control the size of the pot but I'm not sure what we are inducing as we're never sure ourselves where we are as well as the bad turn cards that won't help the situation.

I have a weird option ,bet 1,4 or maybe even 1 on the flop. Always funky to get villains thinking what is this sizing. This gives our villain room to call with his weak hands like Tx ,or 9x also ,Im sure it his hard for villain to raise with like AQ there cause if u shove then its sick spot for them. So when u do get raised u are probably pretty beat. So a chance to get called by worse and control the size of the pot.
defenetly an option.

It is a tough spot. I think if we check we should call as he's going to stab with pretty much anything if we're the preflop aggressor and miss our cbet. I also think betting small ourselfves to pot control is pretty good in this situation and folding to a raise like @lennuk said. The problem is the turn card because basically we're not happy with almost any turn card, so maybe you made the best decision and saved yourself some money with this play even though it is kind of nitty.

Thanks for the replies guys, given the fact a lot of people have a different opinion makes me believe it certainly isn't very straightforward. I've discussed this one with numerous of people and I don't think there's a super clear 100% correct answer. Most told me to bet flop and I think I have to agree with that, I really like a 1/3ish pot sizing which I've been experimenting with lately. It's not a standard option but it's the least bad one if that makes any sense, as by betting we can atleast get him to fold some stuff some % of the time.
