NL10z A5s

Posted 8 years ago

A5s is in my bluff 3bet range vs UTG from MP. At the minute its KK+, A5s, KQo, AJo.

Once I get called on A high board I'm in check call down mode normally. The draws complicate it somewhat though so maybe a bet is better. Don't see any point raising anywhere as played even when hit the 2 pair as I think Ax will fold probably and he could yet have better 2 pair or sets and checked to check raise flop.

Thoughts on check call TP strategy in 3bet pot on 2 tone, 2 broadway board?

Looks good I think.

No need to cbet the flop hating life if we get raised and not loving it too much if called. If UTG had more agro stats (looks like a nit) I don't mind a flop bet for value to charge draws.

Turn is fine as we should expect them to give up on the river a lot with bluffs and we can win at SD, river we make two pair and block AJ.

I'd play this the same way. I'd be folding if we don't make two pair on the river.

I'd play it the same. Unimproved, A5 here is a 1 street of value hand max if you're betting yourself. Starting off with a check is good and if turn was checked to you I'd likely check back turn as well. Turn call is definitely standard and so is calling when you improve on the river. I think a raise would be too thin as that line would look extremely strong.

I like it. The 3 bet and the hand choice are spot on.

In a 3 bet pot Ax top pair no kicker plays almost like KK here so checking is great. Only looking for a single street of value.

Turn and river look like easy enough calls, especially once we hit two pair.

I'm not a particularly large fan of the three bet pre in these positions. I don't hate it by any stretch but I think it is unnecessary, my three bet range in these spots is very value heavy though so maybe that says more about my play than it does yours.

Post flop then is played perfectly IMO, as you mentioned raising at any point seems like an overplay, even when you improve to two pair. Calling down is optimal. Even without the 5 on the river I still probably click call given the way the hand has been played. On this runout I would be betting river if checked to myself, then without the 5 I'd be happy to check it back if checked to.
