NL5 TT

This is a pretty short hand but I'm usually confused about these spots. I normally call this but the villain has a 3.8% 3bet over 450 hands and has never 3bet from MP. Is this a fold?

It's hard to know if he's actually that tight with 450 hands, also this would technically be CO vs MP since it's 5 handed so that might change the stats a bit.

As a standard I would call but I don't hate the fold. It's a situation that if you're wrong and he actually is looser then you're making a relatively small mistake pre but if his range is just something like QQ+ only then continuing with the hand can lead to some very big mistakes.

For me this is a call, don't see to many merits to raising as they will fold worse and stack with better.

Call and take a flop.

I would fold tbh, his 3 betting range against your UTG open is usually on the tighter side.
So I would say treating his 3 bet range as 3.8% might be too optimistic, its very hard to play TT oop like this imo.
Unless you think its profitable just to set mine then go ahead.

I think folding here is actually fine. Calling to take a flop out of position vs a nitty 40bb stack is just going to lead to mass confusion and big mistakes being made post flop.

Guys thanks for the replies! Laugh

@StratoMan It's not a 40BB stack it's NL5 , you were probably confused by the 2 bigger stacks around him. Again thanks for the reply though!

When I played 10NL fast fold on 888 I'd generally just fold pairs like these (even JJ) from UTG when I got 3bet and I had to play OOP. I don't think it's a huge leak, especially if you want to keep things simple and don't feel super confident postflop. Calling to setmine is in general going to suck with pairs like TT so we shouldn't be doing that IMO. I'm personally peeling here because I feel confident enough to play this hand profitabily postflop but it's certainly not going to be huge EV.

I'd call, if he's super tight we can always make a set
