20NL: TT in 3b pot valuebet river?

Posted 7 years ago

Villain is a reg, no further stats. He took a stack of me in a 4b pot where I called a 4b with AQs and he flopped ATT5 with KT and got it in vs me.

Pre standard call I guess.
Flop: I would hate to get ch/raised here, so decide to check back. Looking back he may only ch/raise hands that I am flipping or behind against, so maybe bet/folding the flop is the best play?
Turn: call as played is my only option, I would say.
River: when he checks he may induce blufs from my AdQx for instance. Check back or valuebet?

Yeah def. betting flop - people don't check back better hands than TT nearly enough to make me not want to bet, and we clearly want to get some protection / value - he clearly could check call with certain high card hands.

So easy bet flop for about half pot

As played I would just check back the river - I'm really not that worried of being beat here - and I generally like to go for thin value - but I just feel like it would be 2 ambitious here to hope he calls the river with A-high. We are somewhat reversed freerolling ourselves when we vbet here - because he some of the time might x/r something or he might actually have played some sort of better hand like this.

FWIW: If we do get x/r OTF we can just still fold.

Yeah, I agree. After the fact it seems super obvious to bet/fold flop. I guess this shows how rusty my game still is.... Sad

Yeh betting flop is good and a reason not to bet is being scared of a check raise.

Reasons to bet

- Protection
- Get value from high card floats with Dx

At nl5 I'd bet flop and turn in a 3bet pot in position after villain checks to me, but I'm an aggrotard and recent graphs suggests I may not be too reliable. BlushGiggle Not sure how much things change by nl20, not a great deal I should think.
