AQs spew very deep in big 22

Posted 7 years ago

No real history with villain, he had lost a good chunk of his stack to the caller in this hand a few orbits before.

This was probably the toughest hand I've played in a while, I really did not know how to approach the pre flop situation once I got min click 4b.

At the time I read into this as AA or total air ball, I figured I had an extremely good price to take a flop and planned on ripping any flop that gave me some kind of equity.

The problem is I really didn't think through exactly what kind of flop I wanted/needed to see to do this, I spent too much time decided on calling or jamming pre.

Sooooo I saw a low dry board with a diamond on it and decided I'm arrrrrrin! Not thinking through the fact that the 2 and 3 hit his 4b bluffing range and we likely don't get AK to fold on this board either if he does show up with that.

How do you guys approach this situation?

Ripping the flop is really not a good line here...you know your equity pre flop is better than flop vs his range right? We get nothing to fold on flop at all but can get folds pre or be in better situations (50/50 types) if it all goes in...post flop your equity decreases vs a hand like JJ if you don't hit.

Pre Flop I think I

1) 3 bet much larger. I probably go 4.5-5x and do not fold.

2) In this spot once minned I probably pile. SPF, hand strength and blockers plus your hand looks like a sqz and AQs does pretty well in 30bb ish all ins.

Yeh of course I'm aware the flop jam was terrible. Pre I don't like sizing any bigger, we want to give him the illusion of fold equity if he jams some bluffs, A2-A5s or some std Broadway's maybe, I was never folding here if he did jam btw I was sigh calling for sure.

The reason I opt for call instead of ripping pre was because of the min click, in game I though this is weighted heavily towards Aces or air, with that in mind i think flatting becomes the best option.

I should have jammed on boards that gave us some kind of gutshot, straight or flush equity and given up otherwise.

But even if he has air it's fine if he folds pre and you win with nsd?

Yeh ofc but that's kind of results, we have his bluffing range crushed and take the the pot on a decent number of flops anyways plus getting a full double when when the A flops from his bluffing range.

It's v specific situation because of the min click, like he should never be min click folding with that stack size anyways and I was defo calling the jam. Vs a min click call we are defo crushed By Aa AK is my point I guess.

Even AK just rips same as 9s + so it's literally Aces or air so calling makes way more sense IMO, just don't rip a 9 high flop Smile
