K60 bluffcatching river in 1€ heads-up hyper

Posted 7 years ago

Ok so I played a few HU hypers for fun today and I thought this hand was interesting. I know this is only a 1 euro hyper but this player didn't shove the first hand. Seemed to play alright, more aggro than the pop tendencies I've seen at that limit. Barely played any hands with that player at that point so no real dynamics.

Preflop and flop I think my play is pretty standard. Don't expect him to have any Ax really when he just completes at this effective dept. Turn I'm checking and I'd like to see villain shut down but I'm probably calling a bet of half pot or smaller. River brings in some straight + back door flush and I was leaning more towards a fold at first.

But what can he really have? Almost no Ax, Don't think a 8x or Tx hand would bet here as the board isn't that appealing. Maybe Tx with a club? I feel like such a big river sizing really polarizes him to either some 97, maybe with a club and flushes or nothing.
Not in love with the sizing but given how passively I played my hand, I could see him trying to make me fold here.

Any arguments against hero calling river here?

Hero (BB): 660 (22 bb)
SB: 340 (11.3 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K6
SB completes, Hero checks

Flop: (60) 6A8 (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 30, Hero calls 30

Turn: (120) A (2 players)
Hero checks, SB checks

River: (120) 10 (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 120, Hero ?

Really not sure how often people are bluffing here in this spot but your range is a ton of 6's and 8's so he shouldn't really be overbetting here and should be going for thin value. With the Kc blocker I think a call is fine as this won't be a 10 for example.

I think a call here is perfectly fine. There are 0 Ax hands in his range first of all. As above states, I agree that a 6 or an 8 would go for thin value rather than potting after you check back the river. Also any heart draws that pair up on the river would again be looking for value against a 6 or an 8 that is just looking for a cheap showdown.

I think they are super polarised in having either missed hearts possibly with a 6 (thinking maybe 5h-6h or even 5h-7h) and they don't think its good, or they got there on the river with 9-7. Overall, I think they are just looking to steal and applying pressure to the fact you obviously want a cheap showdown and I think your ahead more often then not.

Hi there, I don't play heads up or hypers but would a jam be too agro here? With the effective stacks at 11BB Surely they would be opening rather than limping any pair, any A, any K and possibly more. Your fold equity must be huge? I don't know what the ICM would have to say but I would be reallyyyyy tempted to punish the limp. I am really rusty at the moment though so I may be just a little eager to get the chips in the middle Laugh

I might need to go over my ranges because it's been a while since I really played hypers seriously but I think K6o is just too weak to shove here. K6s or any suited king really, I would shove. For the unsuited kings, maybe K8 or K7 and higher? I'd need to run some numbers on that. At this stake and dept, players seem to either become really aggro or way too tight. Often the flop is checked back and my stab turn takes it down.

Also, no ICM in heads up sng because it's winner takes all Wink

Pretty sure he can polarise here with any Tx and fold if you were to jam as your range is pretty face up.

Villain is likely betting turn with any flopped or turned equity.

I'd likely be folding my 6x as that's bottom of my range with out any info on villain even with a club blocker and look to call down with 8x at best in this spot.
