NL10 AJs

So I am not posting this hand for direct feedback on this hand, other than maybe some minor nitpicking or tweaks on sizing, etc. I am posting this for more generalized advice on the spot.

I always seem to have trouble when I flop top 2 like this, trouble in the sense that they either fold or things go terribly wrong.

So in this spot in particular the guy folds, whatever, he didn't have anything I guess. It gets my questioning the spot though. If you look at the board I pretty much have it locked up. There is an A, a J, and a 2. I have the A and J so I am greatly diminishing the amount of Ax hands and Jx hands that will continue. So then what are we wanting villain to continue with and getting value from. All pairs and some draws, which are mostly gonna be GSSD as the board is rainbow, so there are only BDFDs. Maybe A2s but only 2 combos of that and not entirely sure this villain would be calling in the SB with that. This villain was a 14/9 with Af of 4 over 58 hands, so not a ton to go on, but a I would be willing to assume he is a nit. With that being said are we really gonna get 3 streets out of a spot like this and could checking this flop and allowing villain to catch up be a more viable option.

When things go terribly wrong it is usually when I flop top 2 like this and whatever the 3rd card is, villain has the set. So maybe they bet and I raised and get 3bet and the money goes in maybe I bet, they raise, I 3bet and the money goes in. So is that just a cooler or at micros like this, where villains hardly ever 3bet the flop with air, am I getting it in bad with top 2 when they are clearly screaming set at me or is it just too ridiculous to be folding top 2 even when you pretty much know they probably have you beat.

I know that a different board could change things, like if there was FD on the board or monotone where they could be 3betting or shoving or calling a shove with a NFD or some combo draw. I also understand that diffrent villains could present different factors as well. Kind of broad but just some generalize advice or thoughts in a vacuum might hlep me understand how to make better decisions in the different spots like this, if nothing else maybe it will set my mind at ease.

Your line is fine, I'm always betting here against a limper even if we have the board crush. They fact they limped shows they are going to call out bets with hands they shouldn't.

Multiway pot it is best to bet. Likely one of them has a piece. As Harvie stated, limper is in and they often will show up with A2-A5 AT A8s etc. and call some streets.

The fact this guy is a limper is all you need to know that going to max value is the way forward. Bad players limp random Ax combos and will often give you 3 streets of value. Risking the flop getting checked around could cost you a lot of value.

ok Thanks guys. So that was my thought process and why I bet. Like I said I wasn't to worried about the fact he folded. He just didn't have anything and even if I checked I probably wasn't going to get much value anyhow.

That leads me to second part. When you bet these and are getting 3bet on the flop or shoved on are you in bad shape with your 2 pair as there aint much they can have other than a set. Does it ever make sense to get away from those or is it a just jam it in or call it and if you are beat its a cooler but there will be plenty of other random shit these guys can do this with that you will be happy to gii against
