NL50, overpair in 3bet pot OOP, monotone flop

Posted 9 years ago

So this is the spot. We 3bet OOP (BLvLP) with a strong pair, like JJ+, and flop comes monotone undercards. We don't hold a flush draw card.
How do you approach?

Interesting. I'm not actually sure otf. I would probably bet although check calling probably is fine also. This turn isn't great. Villain can now raise with his hs+fd or SD+fd along with 99 and flushes and we are in a world of hurt. V the raise I fold and don't feel bad. Not sure I would bet twice here tho. One for Snowie probably without reads Smile

My normal line is to check call all the way down on these boards unless another diamond comes. This way we get bluffed at alot and can just value bet rivers if turn is checked round.

In this spot i fold the turn. Our hand plays poorly vs a lot of a turn raising range and no rivers favor us.

Turn is fold as played.
Think a x/c, x/c is much better in these kinda spots.
My double barrel range would be sets, flopped flush and Ax when the flop is monotone.

I agree with Stratoman here, even though it's an ugly spot we can't do anything else but folding IMO. I'm not sure what it is but I have a fear for turn minraises aswell, they often seem so nutty to me. I like betting flop though because check/calling really sucks for our range and check/folding is way to weak Smile
