Gonna stick a prelim update here. Busted the $22 and $11 from earlier in the day, current active currents are $109 SCOOP02-M and $22 SCOOP04-L, getting deepish ITM in the 109, currently 110/308 with near $300 locked, early days in the SCOOP04.

There are three events left for tonight, as of right now it seems unlikely I end up playing them. I'm getting pretty tired and don't envision myself playing my A-game throughout them. There's also a decent possiblity of making day 2 of this 109, in which case I want to make sure I'm feeling refreshed. Depending on how the SCOOP04 goes I might reg the 8pm PLO $22, but that will almost certainly be the cutoff. I'll either sub in events of the same value at a later stage in the package or refund the unplayed events, most other days have much more condensed times for events so unlikely to run into the fatigue issue as much.

Overall absolutely delighted with how I've played, I feel I've made very few blunders all round. I'll put in a few of the more interesting spots from the 109 in a full write up either later tonight when I finish up or much more likely, some time tomorrow!

Busted the 109 185/3840 for $366.60 for our only cash of the day. Played 4 events out of a scheduled 7, just did not have the energy to be regging tournaments 7+ hours into the grind. I'm almost certainly going to replace the lower buy in events with a tournament of the same value, the 109 I skipped though will likely be refunded instead of replaced.

My bustout hand in 109 was a bit of a spew, I check raised bluff flop and followed through turn and river vs an opponent I felt would be a good candidate to run this bluff with, he called down with AK high and rivered a K for all the chips. Definitely an avoidable bustout but I'm not too beat up over it, I get the fold through on most rivers, just s shame he hit his pair at the end. I was definitely annoyed with it but hey, shit happens.

This is a spot earlier in the event I still am not entirely sure about, folding river seems fine but it was a tough spot for me, input would be appreciated. At the time of the hand I was relatively readless, villain proved himself to be on the more aggressive side and definitely capable of bluffs but still seems like a spot where he will be far more value heavy than not:

Then this hand was all sorts of LOL. I considered check raising but when villain went quite large I didn't feel I had the fold equity to do this. I also considered bluffing river as so much of my range got there, but fortunately no need!

Will be back on the grind later on this evening, might add in the $22 HORSE as well as a replacement, will decide based on how the other events are going. Could also consider adding in some non-SCOOP daily tournaments to make up the lower buy ins.

Nice job on the $109!! Unfortunate that you couldn't make all the tournies but at least you know your limits and it is only the 1st day, so plenty of time to find some others if you so choose.

KJ hand is a tough one. I think in short you played it fine. The challenge for me, is I don't play tournies much so can only look at this from cash perspective. Other issue is I don't really know what a UTG opening range would look like in an 8 handed tourney environment. I can make a good guess and that guess says you actually have very little, if any, 7x, which means you don't have very many nutted hands on this board and runout, so defending properly can become problematic I suppose.

So do you open 87s 76s A7s. You were the one of the big stacks at the table, so maybe so. If you don't open any of those than you literally only have the 3 combos of JJ and then Jx and OPs to defend with. Also do you open all AJ, both suited and offsuit. If so then you have all combos of AJ plus OPs and other Jx, so that is a lot so you can probably fold a fair amount of that and still not get exploited. I think you would rather call with Jx that has an 8 or 6 or A with it, as those block some of the 7x he has, but you don't have 2 of them so AJ probably becomes the best Jx, then maybe your AA. Fold Jx that has 8 9 or T as those block his natural bluffs, but again you probably only have JT in that group, so then you probably just defend from the top down. KJ kind of in the middle somewhere so think it was fine to fold

Other option is to check back flop and then just XC XC, but if you do that with too many of your Jx and OPs then what strong hands are you betting flop with.

I think I agree with the person in chat yesterday that the way you played it was fine. It was for your tourney life, so you lived to continue playing.

Yeh was a little peeved at not getting to play all of them, I just really overestimated how tired I’d be after 8 hours of poker and I knew I wouldn’t be playing my A-game if I kept regging so would have been doing myself, and everyone who invested a disservice. I’ll be adjusting the schedule for next Sunday definitely as here is a fairly similar schedule planned for the day too and it just isn’t feasible.

I spoke with Fintan (easywthaces) who feels checking back this hand in the flop is probably best, but that betting isn’t awful. As played, without reads he agreed with a fold on it. Still annoyed I didn’t make the day 2 but thrilled to start off the package with a winner! Looking forward to the two events tonight now, I’ll almost certainly spot in an $11 and $22 alongside them to make up for the two I missed yesterday, will have a look at the schedule when I get to the computer and pick something out!

And we're off! Replaced the lower buy in events yesterday with Big 11 and Big 22!
Posted 6 years ago
Day got off to a very rocky start, busted the 109 and the big 22 quite early so was down to the two $11 events, it was always going to be a struggle to get even for the day. I did not end up even for the day....I ended up with a juicy amount of profit after Final tabling the big 11. Busted 8th unfortunately but cashed for $480 which is obviously a great result, was annoyed I didn't do better though. Will do a more detailed write up tomorrow, I have now been awake for about 22 hours so really need to get some sleep Laugh

So full recap for the day!

Bounty Builder 109:
I was trucking along fine in this one, had chipped up a decent chunk to around 70k from 50k starting at one point but then lost a few small pots and was back down at 55k at T1k (starting stack 50k). I opened 99 from EP and was threebet quite large from a villain who had proven himself to be a bit of a wild man and was extremely aggro. Due to his large sizing I felt it was unlikely he was going to be showing up with extremely nutted hands, there was around 20% of my remaining stack in the middle and I felt I had a lot of fold equity, plus the stars nuts so I went for the large jam. Villain called with AK and we lost the race and a 112k pot which would have had us with a commanding chip lead at the table which counts for a lot in bounty builders. General thoughts - It was definitely an aggressive play and relatively risky, but I'm OK with it vs this opponent.

Big 22:
This was an event I swapped into the schedule from the missed events from day 1. Not much to be said about this one really, I chipped down to about 2.5k early on (starting stack of 5k), managed to get back up above starting and had 6.7k at T400 on the button. I opened, SB jammed AK, flop came KQJ, turn Q, river Q and gg to us.If we'd held that flip we would have had around average stack and been in reasonable shape, perfectly standard hand from all involved though of course.

Bounty Builder 11:
Go KK in threeway very early in this for the vast majority of my stack and a double bounty opportunity. We we're up against AK and QQ, Q on the flop left us with 3k from a starting stack of 25k so we we're seriously on the ropes. We chipped down a bit and then managed to get back up to 7k with AA all in pre multiway. Very next hand we got 44 in vs 33 and we we're right back in it with 16.5k. A few orbits later we got AA again in vs AK and TT which put us up at 42k and we went from there. We built up a decent amount of bounties and made the money before busting 88 < TT for a total of ~$30.

Big 11
This was the second alteration to the schedule, I added this in for the missed event on day 1. We got off to a beautiful start within the first ten hands getting AA all in on a J high flop vs two flush draws, one of which had a pair. We held for the lot and had a monster stack of 13.5k straight off the bat. The next few hours were exceptionally boring in this one, very little fluctuation either way in my stack. After a couple hours we had started dwindling but were still in or around 10k. Blinds were getting big and at T800 we made a stand vs an open with KQ, we won the race vs 88 and had a workable stack of 21k. No big pots but we managed to accumulate up to around 29k when we were moved table where an absolute whale sat with 100k. Yum yum. Over the next few orbits we took the lot. When I say whale, I mean it. I'll put in all the hands I had with him:

We had a lot of swings from here on out but made the FT. This was the main hand that cost us, I have yet to get other peoples opinions on this one but I feel it was played poorly by me and that I could have folded flop. This put is as the extreme shorty on the table and we busted a few hands later in 8th for $480.

Well played, was fun to rail for the last 2 hours ish of the Big $11 !

Regarding the final KJ hand, I watched that one play out obviously and my initial thoughts during and after the hand was that he was just super nutted. The min 3-bet from a 15bb stack in my experience is always on the strong side rather than them just jamming from that stack size. I would generally expect you to be stronger than KJ to be calling. It's not a great flop, no clubs obviously and we are dominated often

He's also a short stack so he isn't going to be playing hands like this unless he has it. If I get min clicked by a big stack who has got less to lose and can apply the pressure I would be OK with calling the 3-bet but from that player, with ICM considerations and also to avoid doubling up a short stack and putting ourselves in shit street folding either pre or definitely on the flop for me.

Great result though and awesome start to SCOOP week/s!

Have you decided if you're going to play later?

Yeh you’re probably right Ash, I didn’t think I through properly if I’m being perfectly honest. Fatigue got the better of me! Don’t think we can fold ore given sizing though, probably should have folded flop.

I have, I’m going to take his evening off. Only had 3 hours sleep so need to recharge the batteries. Will add in tournaments during next grind in lieu of the ones we miss tonight.

Quick update to start the day, had a stack in the 2-7 triple draw and got absolutely creamed hand after hand to bust a little outside the money. Replaced the 55 SCOOP I missed yeserday with big 55 today, and combined the other 5.50 and 11 dollar events to play a 16.50 8-max today as well, so we have three tournaments left for the evening now.
Posted 6 years ago
Sorry, 4 tournaments! I have a 55 turbo at 9.30 as well!

GG the 215, made an optimistic 4bet jam vs a guy for half my stack who had the goods, then ran TT in AK for 25k at T1k, A on the river and GG. Still have two two 55's and a 16.50, need around 360 in cashes to break even for the day.

Okey dokey, since we’re still in profit on our buy ins to date I’m more than happy to oblige Wink
