Open-limp

The term refers to a player who opens the action on a table by calling the big blind or limping. This can be done in any position as long as he or she is the first person to put money in the pot after the big blind.

For example: Blinds $1/$2 No Limit Hold 'Em
Player 1: Cut Off
Player 2: Button
Player 3: Small Blind
Player 4: Big Blind

Player 1 (Cut off) Folds, Player 2: (Button) Calls $2.
Player 2 or the Button has open-limped.

Strategically, open limping has been frowned upon in the poker community as a fishy strategy. This move is considered a bad play due its predictability, capped range, and the lack of initiative in the pot.
