Does anyone have any info/resources on this? , like where its best to play, how the rake works, what adjustments you need to make compared to online.

Was just looking at one of my local casinos, and it use to be that you paid the rake by the hour, but looking at this, seems they take it from the pot, guessing the latter method is not gonna be good for us.

Thanks

Hi Gus,

Whereabouts are you looking? That looks like the Grosvenor website?

90% of the time it's raked from each pot, as well as jackpot / bad beat rake taken as well. Think rake at Grosvenors is 5% capped at £5.

You can get "by the session" tables but you'll have to ask the casino direct and it would depend on what game you're wanting to play. If it's a standard NLHE game they usually run I don't imagine they would do a session charge

Ash is correct.

Grosvenor and Gala always take % from pots post flop. Nothing Pre.No charges for sessions so unsure which casinos you use but if you use Grosvenor the standard and has been for a long tine is % pot.Contributes to bad beat jackpot too.

Yeh its Grosvenor Manchester. So that rake looks on a par basically with the N8 games apart from preflop, unless in the recent rake change they stopped raking 3B pots/straddled pots. Do people use apps or something these days whilst playing?, because I was amazed at a guy in my group the level of detail he gave in 3 hand histories and the bet sizes and stack sizes.

Which one? I play at all the Manchester Grosvenors (plus the 235), guessing you are local?

The only game I know off which has a "session" charge is at Didsbury, there's a 'private' PLO game starts at £5/£5 I believe but goes higher, the guys are sitting down with £2k at a time.

I don't use any apps but I will occasionally note down if I've just played a tricky/interesting hand (just in a "Memo" on my phone) to go over later. Need to do this more to be honest lol.

What type of game are you looking for?

At Bury New Road at the minute there's the rake + 50p bad beat jackpot + 50p high hand jackpot taken from each NLHE pot

I used to call the local casinos to ask them what games are running what days and other stuff like rake. I found some of the websites are not up to date.

NLHE Cash

Yeh this is the one am thinking of going to, on a Saturday night after been to my sister's, there is also a Genting one on my way home, you ever played there?.
Posted 7 years ago
Never been to the Genting. At BNR quite regularly, decent comp on saturday night as well with good cash games on all night

I'm assuming you want to play bigger stakes, but Didsbury has a "baby cash" with 25p/50p blinds on a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday however from mid-April this is going to be an every night thing. 10% rake capped at £5 HOWEVER, the play is abysmally poor, especially on a Friday and Saturday night. I've regularly walked away with £250+ after sitting down with £30!

Well online at the moment am playing 10FF, because am changing loads in my game, but I have like a £2.5k roll, how many buy ins would you suggest you need to play live?.

I thought this would be close by for me on a Saturday night, but turns out its gonna be like 18 mile away Sad . But I looked at my old haunt the Riverside and looks like they are offering the same stakes. So I think I have drawn my list up, think im either gonna play BNR, Riverside or Manchester235, which do you think is the best out of these?.

I'm not a big live cash player so regarding buyins etc I'm probably not the best to answer. Maybe @Jon-PokerVIP or @Harvie can answer that.

Regarding those casinos.

Riverside (Salford), stay away. It's very, VERY clichy. Not an enjoyable atmosphere at all and just not a friendly place at all. The tournaments get the same 7/8 players and rarely any more, for this reason.

Manchester235 is OK, not played cash there but the tournament's I've played have been okay if not very busy. Not a huge fan of the layout of the card room.

Out of those BNR is definitely the best choice, nice big card room, generally friendly, the best Cardroom Manager in the Northwest, busy on a Saturday night. Stakes will start at 1/1 and they'll have probably 5/6+ tables of different stakes on the go.

Didsbury is the nicest of all the Manchester ones though, nice cardroom, Saturdays usually get 2x 1/1 tables going plus the baby cash table. If I don't go Blackpool for their big tournament I'll be at Didsbury this Saturday. Definitely worth a visit at some point, though not sure what part of Manchester you're in if it's 18 miles lol

Now you mention it, I think it use to be a bit like that when I use to go, I bet the card room hasn't changed, use to be really fucking snug, and cash would only start once they started cutting the tables down in the MTT that was running.

Sounds good.

Thats what I get for using AA route finder on my phone at work on my dinner, just punched it in now, no wonder its comes up with that, it takes you down the M60 Laugh , when I took the motorway out I got this

Again being retarded wanting to take you through town lol, you really sold it Laugh , so think am gonna go with BNR and here.

Ahh yeahh if you're in Cheetham Hill anyway, BNR is definitely the place to go! Pain in the arse getting from one side of Manchester to the other. I live in Warrington so either Central Manchester or Didsbury is easy for me.

Good luck!

TY. Feels like a dumb question, but do you have to tip anybody?, dont want anyone thinking am a tightwad Laugh
Posted 7 years ago
I see very few people tipping the dealer to be honest, maybe a couple of quid after a BIG pot or when they're cashing up at the end, any loose 50ps etc
Posted 7 years ago
The 'tips' dont go to the dealer and according to several of the dealers, the tips arent even dustributed between all dealers at the end of shift.Grosvenor tuck it away in their pockets.

So when youve paid rake already, dont pay them again.
Posted 7 years ago
I highly doubt Grosvenor "keep" tips (I think that would be highly illegal)

However, I know all the tips are pooled and spread between dealers, croupiers, service staff, chefs, receptionists, managers etc

You know?

My wife is a dealer at Grosvenor and I assure you,the dealers get zero of the poker table tips.

Its neither distributed across dealers either,Its also in the contract of employment.

Posted 7 years ago
Only from what I've been told by Grosvenor dealers/staff. If Grosvenor themselves pocket the tips I'm sure a lot of people would want to know
Posted 7 years ago
Im gonna get my wife to query it as she may be missing out.
