Anonymous aggressive games adjustments?

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

I play nl20 anonymous tables, no HUD as I shut it off for now. I don't get enough hands on opponents and things like F2CBet stats etc after 100-150 hands is just misleading.

So my problem is as the title suggests, agressive play preflop from opponenets right from the start.

I raise MP and get 3bet, I raise CO and get 3bet by a different opponent. They raise CO, I 3bet from BU, BB squeezes or CO 4bets. Note it's different players from differing positions but it's relentless, hand after hand sonot surprisingly hands don't go to showdown very often, compunding my insecurity.

I know I can be 'running into hands' a fair amount, but how to separate that obvious fact from being outplayed?

What I have noticed is that if I can get to showdown ( a rarer occurrance) - chk/chk ... chk/chk ... chk/chk then I do see some weak stuff like J7s 3betted me from CO v my MP raise and the only reason I'm in the pot still is because I called the 3bet OOP with say ATs just to see if I can find out what's going on. Maybe I should be 4betting more I don't know, but that route seems a bit too much for nl20 but I am here to be educated. Smile

Ok, so, how to adjust in these games?
I could play IP and be really nitty OOP but then I get spotted too easily when I have it.
I cold sit out but that's no good if I want to beat the limit I have to beat these games to, they are quite common and everybody seems to turn up at once! Smile

Maybe I could 'widen my value range' but I don't even know what means specifically because it isn't just playing looser is it.

Anyway, I hope you get the picture but please don't give me the standard, 'If they're 3betting 25% etc etc, because I don't know what the 3bet % is, just that they're all at it a lot - except the nit in seat 6 maybe Laugh

Oh, nearly forgot, they very often turn into calling stations and otherwise get passive postflop even IP so the skill level obviously isn't great postflop and even I can see it's because of wide ranges and trash being palyed preflop.
Also, the call 4bets IP as well.

Thanks for any help, these are really interesting games, just too hard for me.

Mh, simple answer: If you don't have a good gameplan, don't play ano-tables...

I also play mainly on Microgaming and anos, but some limits higher, I play both, anos and "normal" tables, the same way.

If you defend good against 3bets per default, villains going to exploit themselves if they 3bet to much, if you play nearly optimal or "correct" against 3bets, there is no problem if villains start to 3bet more, because your valuehands + buffhands increase in EV .

@eroticjesus , the simple answer didn't work for me, I'm put on anon tables by my coach to learn and develop a good game plan, hence my question. I have the option to move to regular if I want to.
I have defending ranges etc etc., I just wondered if there was some strategy different to playing versus 'standard' players, as these games are relentless 3bet/4bet fests preflop is all.

I can appreciate the latter part of your post more and I thank you for the time to reply. I will make sure to get my play solid preflop as you suggest, even if understanding and playing 'optimal' might be above my paygrade for now. Blush

Thanks again for your time. Smile

@Pwll I have just started in the last week playing at Tonybet which is Hudless also.
It was quite daunting to begin with and the problems you talk about are the same for me at times.
I moved to Hudless because I honestly think Internet poker will be completely Hudless in the coming years.
Traffic isn't great at Tonybet so at the moment I'm playing a mixture of 5nl and 10nl when the traffic is poor but mainly at 10nl.
I think a pro like @Jon-PokerVIP is a great example of how to play these kind of games.
The holy grail for me is playing 25nl!
I've had another shot at it again having reached the 50 buy in marks but sadly it didn't work out again πŸ˜†
I did take the shot at stars and found it to be a huge 3 bet/ 4 bet fest as you say so I totally sympathise with you.
Good luck pal, I'm sure you'll crack itπŸ‘πŸ»
