FiveFourFive: Itsopinions at the end of the day,but the majority if your on twitter and social media actually dont think Eubank meant it in the way you think. From Pros.current boxers, trainers, media and more.
Yea I'm totally with SJLogic on this one, having watched the fight live, including the round chats,no way on gods green earth is he asking his son to stop hitting him due to worries over his safety.
He clearly states, the best way of stopping this fighter is by body shots,as the guy had a great chin and was taking the shots. They did want the fight stopping and Eubank Snr was seen banging on the apron to tell the ref to stop it,but that has nothing to do with the instructions in the corner.
Wether you watch combat sport or not as suggested above, its complete misinterpreation to suggest hes doing it for the good of the fighter.
That said, the trainer of Blackwell has a huge load to answer, how he sleeps at night i'll never know. Now he was seen saying your still in this, now weve got him etc etc,in round 8/9 when hes clearly 6 rounds down and taking a hiding. The fighters never going to quit but this trainer was appalling for not pulling his man out.
Both Sr and Jr said they deliberately stopped targeting the head: "Of his instructions to his son, he added: "Even in sparring, I tell Junior to stay away from the head because his punching is fast, powerful and dangerous. So most certainly I was saying this to protect the fighter. He had the fight won. This is a dangerous sport and we are real."
Eubank Jr. said he eased up on his opponent in the 10th round to avoid inflicting further damage on the 25-year-old, whose eye was severely swollen from the bout: "I’m glad the doctor stopped the fight because the referee wasn’t going to. I was playing. I’d won the fight, so I thought ‘let’s put on a little bit of a show because people are still watching.' I wasn’t throwing as many punches."
So you can call them liars if you like. You can also dismiss The Independent, Sky Sports, Irish Independent, and Examiner, all of which interpreted it the opposite of how you do. Plus there's the fact that Sr put a guy in a coma years back in similar circumstances, so ofc he had that in mind during this fight. But you have twitter and social media on your side, so good on ya.
