Dees anyone use Fanaments??

This looks to be the EU version of Daily Fantasy Sports. You basically enter a tournament (can be "MTTs" or heads up or double or nothing so similar there to poker), pick your team for that weekend of sport (ATM is soccer, NBA, MMA and something else) and the top how ever many get paid similar to poker payouts depending on entries etc

Anyone use it? It all looks legit and has a fair number of users. Min deposit is €20 so was worth a little punt for me. Tournament entries range from freerolls to €1 to €100 so plenty of options

Remind not to punt on a sport I've never watched nor have any clue about!

Not doing too badly in this afternoons Premier League though, some games tomorrow as well before we know how the tournament finishes

So you mean it's like a fantasy sports but you get paid based on how many points your players get?

What site is this run? Is there a rundown of how it works because I'm very interested.
Posted 8 years ago
Yeah like a tournament, say there's 10 entrants the top 3 will get paid based on how many points their "team" gets during that nights/weekends games. There's a link in the first post. Also "50/50" and "heads up" tournaments so one on one for double your buy-in etc very much like poker, and the lobby looks like a poker lobby with the different buy-ins and prize pools and entrants etc

Maybe if the site is still very new, or the DFS concept is new-ish to the EU, there could be value to be had. But if y'all aren't aware of how massively the N American DFS sites are tilted towards pros, I'd suggest reading up on it before you plunk too much money into fantasy sports.

If you do play, make sure to use beginner/new player tourneys in order to avoid he pros as best you can.

Pros? What do you mean, there are people who do this professionally? Isn't it just about reading data and picking the best player based on each gameweek?

This is fairly new in the UK, at least I've never heard of it. But I'm tempted now.

How many seats fill up @killjoy1987 for each MTT?

Posted 8 years ago
The NBA one I did had 51 entrants, the football one had 18 and that's with a couple of people having 2/3 entries each so not many atm. Think it is very new, I'd never heard of it in the UK before stumbling into this

I opened an account there in late November, and to be honest forgot about that till now. I think last week, aejones, former leggopoker owner, won 5M$ in a dfs tournament. Never understood the relation between poker and dfs, but the true is that a bunch of sucessfull poker players, are sucessfull in dfs too.

Holy cow this must be new to the EU. Now I know why there weren't many responses to threads I started a few months back, when a bunch of scandals and lawsuits in DFS rocked the USA gambling world.

@Harvie Oh yeah there are full-time DFS pros, lots of them. About 93% of DFS winnings go to 10% of the players. Max Steinberg from WSOP FT actually donesn't play poker much at all any more, he's a full-time DFS player, and in fact won his WSOP seat from a DFS satty. Pros write their own algorithms and scripts, and in N America they will enter an MTT up to 40-50 times in order to capitalize on small advantages. Once they pick a lineup or set of lineups, with their own scripts it is just as easy to play $1 games as $1K, and enter multiple times.

The poker comparison would be if Viktor Blom could log on, and then sign up for EVERY game in the lobby. It's not like you can work your way up the micros cuz Isildur would never play at those stakes.

Most grinders enter the DFS equivalent of an MTT (called GPP, guaranteed prize pool) up to 50 times. The way to win these is to find both market inefficiencies (undervalued players) AND players that won't be on many other people's rosters, since you need a unique line-up to get to the top. They can also enter every 50/50, as well as use scripts to bumhunt for HU games. They use heavy algorithms to figure out the best value players--legal, but beyond the scope of most rec players, which is why I don't think DFS is beatable.

I had hoped DFS could be the new poker, and I spent a lot of time researching the angles, before deciding that there's almost no chance to make money at it, even if you are an above-average player. But if there's a new site that hasn't yet hit the radar of grinders, maybe there's a chance for success, at least in the short term.

Ah I see @CycleVancouver , I'm pretty sure 90% of people if not more in the UK have no idea about DFS. Even me who is clued up on poker and stuff knows very little about it.

Hmm, what if they removed the scripts and all the rest of it? Then what do you think? I think I'll join one of these sites in the coming weeks and see what happens. Will just invest $50 and come back telling you you were right and that I've got no chance to win.

Gave it a look, and it does seem new/fishy enough to merit a fun hundred or so. I think I might just pop some money on there meself, and stick to basketball, since that's where I should theoretically have an advantage, as far as vs other recs anyway. It's be like if a bunch of USA players wanted to gamble on EPL and La Liga, even an average Euro sports fan should be at an advantage.

@killjoy1987 send me (and prob @Harvie) a PM, I'll give you my poker email address. Refer a friend bonuses are huge in DFS, unlike poker. You'll get 20% of my rake, which I expect means you'll owe me a beer or 2. Though I'm theoretically not drinking (again), so I'll take my payment in onion rings.

The T & C seem pretty much like every USA DFS site, which is both good and bad.

@Harvie There's been plenty of discussion about banning scripts, but there's 2 probs. 1. The sites don't actually think they would be able to catch all of them; 2. Just like banning HUDs and scripts at Stars/FTP, you risk losing all your grinders, who generate the vast majority of rake.

Here's a very long article about DFS and American football, it will give you a sense of why Euro football (and presumably all other sports too) will quickly become non-profitable for rec players. When this article came out it started to shake the foundations of DFS here:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/magazine/how-the-daily-fantasy-sports-industry-turns-fans-into-suckers.html?_r=0

Excerpt from article re: scripts : "...when the companies were unresponsive to complaints from the D.F.S. community about the prevalence of scripting. Last March, when maxdalury, a player named Saahil Sud, used a script that enabled him to adjust most of his 400 lineups in less than an hour, the community took notice. Sud was reacting to the breaking news that Channing Frye, usually a reserve forward for the Orlando Magic, would be starting in place of the injured Nikola Vucevic. Sud won first, third, fourth and seventh place in a big DraftKings competition that night and took home hundreds of thousands of dollars. The speed with which he made the adjustments caused many within the D.F.S. community to protest. How could they be reasonably expected to compete if one of the players was using a tool that allowed him to both blanket the field with entries and avoid the work and hassle of manually adjusting his lineups to reflect late-breaking news? "

And that is why I don't play in the USA market.

BTW as an FYI Do NOT expect to ever clear much of your first deposit bonus. You have to gamble 40 to get 1 released, virtually all depositors complain that it's nigh impossible to clear it within 3 months. Certainly nice to have it in theory, but it's nothing like bonuswhoring in poker.

Google for fanaments bonus, or free bankroll, or whatever. They had some codes to provide you some free money (mostly 5 or 10€), it's nothing, but you can have a grasp of what's going on without putting your own money. Personally i lost the interess in this type of game, because it's mostly a watcher game. You do your team, and then wait for the events to finish. A bit boring.

Just been entering some freerolls for this weekend.

One thing I don't get, is they have UFC tournaments. Surely this is way open to cheating as people will know who's going to win etc

@CaptainSifilis It's like any sort of fantasy game really, and fantasy football / NFL is massive and keeps interest up for the whole seasons
Posted 8 years ago
the free quids sign up bonus is no longer active. @killjoy1987 MMA they score it weird, you can click the rules and see scoring. I randomly picked some dudes. Been freerolling NBA but so frustrating when you finish just out of the money cuz of a late scratch.
Posted 8 years ago
Yeah suppose that's okay cos you can imagine if it gets really popular with good money on the line some of the script writers or whoever could do a bit of leaking.

Nba and LA liga it's random dudes chosen lol but I've put a bit of money into the fa cup this weekend with picking winners and scores etc was quite good to do

MULTI-ACCOUNTING ON FANAMENTS

Freerolls are 1 entry per person, not multiple entries (unless specifically stated). Last week someone placed three teams in top 10, Gunslinger29, Gunslinger89, and Gunslinger2989. Not even trying to hide it. Lineups were also almost the exact same, just tweaking around the edges. I contacted their support about this, but they haven't done anything about it. Guy still has multiple entries every day. And this is for a freeroll. Good luck to anyone who thinks that they'll do a better job policing if it's one of their paying regs who's up to no good.

For context, part of the reason why DFS companies are in so much hot water in USA is cuz of insider scandals of all sorts. Looks like another successful American export. Cheeky
Posted 8 years ago
Ah this sucks. I'll contact support as well, maybe if more people start complaining they might do something. Bugger.

My results over the weekend.. not the thing for me I don't think! (Altho some of these are in wrestling and NBA of which I just picked random players!)
