Tilt/Spew/Profit - 6max story

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

So I've been meaning to start one of these for a while now, but with the girlfriend going on holiday I figured there was no time like the present!

I've been inspired recently by watching the vlogs of a guy called thetrooper97 who vlogs his daily grind in Vegas. I've followed it for a few months now and it's a really cool perspective on what life as a grinder is actually liked. It finally gave me the inspiration to write this, I'd highly recommend any of you to check it out if you are looking to watch something new.

I'm a 25 year old working full time Yawn who has also made a resolution this year to get to the gym at least 4 times a week, but more on that in another paragraph. I've played poker since I was 18, mesmerized by the Poker Room in my Luton G Casino and eager to find out what this game actually was. Cue 7 years later, probably breakeven over the entire duration but with experience playing in the likes of the Bellagio, Wynn and the Vic.

As a university student, Black Friday hit me pretty hard with most of my money tied up on Full Tilt. I grinded away on Stars without much success. I eventually got my roll back from FT, but cue me and my tilt problem at the time, I quickly tilted this away. I had a major tilt and lack of BRM problem whilst playing in my younger years, I would quickly build a roll of $600-700 before tilting the whole lot away in one session chasing losses. I still remember playing in a $200+20 hyper HUSNG and losing with aces on AAJ board to J10. Never have I been so numb after a poker loss, I guess in hindsight this was actually the best thing to happen but it certainly didn't feel it at the time.

My Plan

I'm sure everyone's bored by now of the stories (those that haven't TLDR) so here's a bit of background on what I've been up to and what my plans are going forward!

Set myself a challenge, grind my roll from 0.54 euros on Yachting to a 4 figure bankroll using 20 BI BRM.

Rolled myself up to 72euros before realising that Yachting was actually becoming full of nits. Subsequently moved to SkyPoker with £55 two days ago. This is now £77.68.

I play 4 tables of 4nl currently. I only play 6max cash. My aim is to be able to move to 10nl for May. Not sure if this is optimistic but I'd hope to be able to shot take at 10nl by then.

I want to be able to shot-take at 50nl by the end of the year. I've played 25nl online before, but would like to have the BR to get me to 50nl. I feel that this is realistic given that volume wise I'm probably putting in 5-6k hands a week.

I've cut 8lbs in weight since Christmas. I wasn't overweight, I just decided to gym 4 times a week and completely change my diet.

That's pretty much it. I've got loads of other stuff that I could talk about but we'll see how this goes. I'm aiming to get at least 3 blog updates per week, with interesting hands (if anyone can tell how to import hands from Sky!) and difficult spots. Going to Vegas in June and may shot at a WSOP event/satellites with life roll.

Gl all, run good.
