Home game KK soaking wet board

Posted 8 years ago

Three of us (we're all winning players both online and live) discussing this hand don't agree on the best play here, interested to hear your thoughts.

5 handed. Most stacks about 175BB or so. All 5 see the flop (home game style, we're all friends).

UTG limp, CO limp. BTN (hero, wasn't actually me but this is the spot we are discussing) with KK makes it 8BB. 4 calls.

Flop 40BB Q94

SB (total nit, doesn't understand betsizing but plays decent cards at least, and is rarely aggressive) leads for 8BB. 1 fold, TAG calls, LAG in CO (175BB) raises to 26BB. Hero?

LAG in CO probably flopping a set like 44 or 99 .Want not to follow the Flash Draw flop of the SB .i dont think KK are very strong hand here but you told its a friends game so All-in Smile

Given a total nit leads for 8bb I'm guessing their range is Q9+ judge by your info. With the Lag knowing this I think their raising range is going to be value heavy too. Pair+ draw or better.

If i had KK I'd be getting out the way pretty fast.

Tx guys. I lean towards @Harvie's line, but I totally see why in a home game, @hayatekirino's line of shipping it has some payoff too. But that's hoping you're only up against a pure draw.

As played, Hero 3bet to 50BB (almost minimum), which I though was really bad. I'd prefer anything other than opening up the betting again. (The nit can still reraise but if she does we all know to get out of the way.)

The nit folded, and LAG then shoved for about 160BB. I ran equity for KK vs a made hand (2p+) and it's 25%, vs a loose range (shoving with draws and made hands), it's a flip. Hero put LAG on a draw and called the shove.

You are deep enough to call here ip imo. Obvly u can fold comfortably when UTG raise allin. Personally my lowest calling range would be AQ here.

If this hand is 100bb deep then i would say it's a really rough spot.

Here are my thoughts after reading your play:

3 betting to 50bb is one of the worst options here if not the worst. Here's why:

With such stack size it's not a good idea to commit yourself when you don't have a ton of equity in a 3 way pot. If this is 100bb deep I would say shoving/ folding is quite close in a vacuum.
For say after 3 betting to 50bb then UTG shoves or UTG calls then CO shoves you would have to fold either way. Why bother risking an extra of 24bb for a smilar result?
( Don't forget you have the best position thru out the hand.)
