Pre is ok defend I think. Flop is easy call with 2nd pair. Turn now gets close. He has a load more Kx than me but I think he also has a lot of turned FD that he barrels, T8 etc with SD etc and the bet is not huge so OK to call?

River gets interesting when he checks. Obviously that sucks for my SDV as FD gets there, Tx, 86s. Is he scared enough of the flush that he can fold Tx or even some Kx to a big float? Or just check it down?

Yeah preflop defend is perfectly fine of course, and post-flop it's an easy flat too. All good there.

You hold an A high blocker to nut flush too. Turn I think you can still call.

On the river I think there's nothing else you can do but check back. He might have KJ, KQ and check once the flush hits as he's worried so maybe you could turn you hand into a bluff here if you really feel this guy is K paired, but you'd have to bet pretty big as he'll call of up to a certain point I'm sure. The problem is that the draw came in as a backdoor so you'll get less respect maybe.

However I don't see him having the flush and you could of course check back with 2nd pair which is probably what I'd end up doing in-game.

He bets his flushes so that isn't a worry.

I guess you could go for an inventive bet to get him to fold one pair hands but like I don't see that making you much mroe if any more than checking back. Checking EV= probably 20% of the pot so unless you think a bet is higher EV then checking looks a lot better Smile

Hi preflop i like more 3bet vs random i dont want that flop look 445 T65 etc flops drys and i need fold vs CB

flop is std, turn i dont know i like more fold or raise, only call i think that is a mistake, I think you do not have a plan, range of villain is very wide and we can raise in this situation to balance our lights and our hands made

river is a easy check behind

Preflop is never a 3b

Turn is never a raise. Your "plan" makes no sense. We want to raise a polarized range here not 2nd pair.

If you checked behind I think it's a totally standard line.

Two streets of money would be fine from the strength of hand you have. I would expect villain to check a lot of his Kx hands here as well. It's possible that betting something ridiculously small like 20% pot would extract value from small pocket pairs bluff catching, but it's not what I would normally do.

Yeah, checked behind. He had T8.

Would you post the hand with the question if villain turns up with AK?
Posted 8 years ago
Yeah, why not? I just put up losses and wins. Doesn't matter how they got there.

I don't know if you would, if he turns up with AK you know he will x/c so it would never be a bet, but as he turned up with T8 you think you get him off T8- which would could ofc Smile

Only reason I'm saying so is because in all the posts people put up here it is because villain either had a good hand and they aren't sure if their hero call was correct or because they see afterwards there was a chance to get him to fold the hand he had by rivering a better hand than hero's bluff catcher.

If villain here turns up with a bluff and has air would you post? Of course you wouldn't, it would be a very standard spot. Be VERY aware of our human results orientated bias towards how we look at hands. Think and work range v range and understand that x% of the time villain will have a hand they won't fold v a bluff or won't call v a value bet.

Not saying this isn't an interesting hand so much, I think that it is potentially an area to bluff as we know that villain never has the nuts here, we can so shoving would probably get a 100% fold and if we construct our range in a way we have the nuts or a hand that beats his bluff catchers (TT for example) then he can't really do much and is probably better to fold.
