NL25 AA bad call?

Posted 8 years agoEdited 8 years ago

The topic is missleading, it is a raise on the turn, not a call. It seems that you can not edit the topic.

Anyways, our opponent is a fishy player, but I have seen him making aggressive moves post flop. He is calling raises very wide pre.

Villain raises to 0,50 from CO
Hero raises to 1,50 from BTN with AAA
Villain calls 1,50

FLOP J36 Pot 3,75

Hero bets 2,37
Villain calls 2,37

TURN 5 Pot 8,54

Hero bets 6,66
Villain raises to 18
Hero raises all-in

So, are we ahead or behind in this spot most of time? What can he have? sets of course, but there is only very few straights or two pair hands he can have. AJ, KJ, QJ, JT, even J9 or lower. 56? J6? Not very likely, because it is 3-bet pot. So, I think we are ahead and he will call the rest of his chips with his hand. What do you think?

Yep, not loving the spot but I think we have to call this. Villain can have some fd he called to bluff turn with then shoves, something like 44, A4s that floats flop 78dd.

Not fistpumping and don't expect to win that often, but enough.

Having the Ad here can be annoying as he can't have nfd but plenty of other fd Smile

Against a fishy player this is super standard for me, they can get it in with Jx and draws, I'm not folding without a good reason to do so. Against a reg I would be sighing.

^ Put succinctly.

Did you jam the turn? Need to know stack sizes and stakes to give a better analysis.

Easy call turn!

I tend to just call the turn and then stack off any river. I think if we fold certain rivers such as a diamond we basically just get exploited so hard as we then believe villain is check raising all his flush draws on the turn which is not realistic.

played it fine.

Yeah, I jammed the turn. I tried to edit the topic after realizing my mistake (it is a jam, not a call) but it was not possible. Effective stacks were 100bb.

Our opponent showed 56 (two pairs) and won the pot.
